Sharon and Phil merry go round...
How long can this continue for?
I'd rather all the lies were just exposed, rather than Sharon packing her bags and leaving Phil every few weeks. Yawn!!

I'm finding the portrayal of Sharon as Phil's doormat increasingly frustrating. The great thing about Sharon's relationship with the Mitchells is that she was never afraid to stand up to them. The character we see now is so far removed from that she might as well be a different person.
Can we have this Sharon back please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qim5W26qJ0k (3mins 20 onwards) |

Well it's not the only merry go round storyline is it? But yes it's frustrating. DTC said Sharon and Phil fit in his head so it will probably continue for a while. It was quite bad with Mick/Linda but now it's getting better.

I agree. But if Sharon wasn't leaving Phil, she would normally argue with phil, pout. storm off and then make up with him the same day. She didn't mind him being involved in Dennis's murder, but somehow Kathy faking her death proved to be the last straw. Sharon does not help herself at all. She never learns.

I really like Phil and Sharon together but I agree the merry go round has to stop. I'm glad DTC is planning to keep them together. Sharon suits the Mitchells a lot more than Kathy or Shirley do. I just hope Phil and Sharon eventually end up on equal terms. It's not very interesting seeing them lie to each other and split up every 5 minutes. I wouldn't take Sharon away from the Mitchells again. I love her as Ma Mitchell.

I love it when Sharon says "my boys" which is a classic Matriarch trait.

The whole show is on a bit of a merry go round.

I hate Sharon with Phil, they do not work for me at all. However, DTC loves them together so we are stuck with it until he goes.
Sharon is now weak and immoral, but then you could say the same of Ian, Jane, Kathy and many many others. DTC's speciality seems to be taking well loved characters and smashing them to pieces whilst worshipping at the altar of St Mick and St Linda everyday. |

His behaviour is getting increasingly worse with not even Sharon being able to rein him in and there's no sign on the horizon that the bastard is going to pay any time soon. I might find this Sharon difficult to connect (especially lately with her blasé attitude to Max's plight) with but I bloody loathe this Phil and his comeuppance can't come soon enough for me. |

I don't see any difference in any of Phil's relationships, he lies. he cheats, he abusive, he drinks etc, a vicious circle, he's never treated any woman as a equal.

Can we have this Sharon back please? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qim5W26qJ0k (3mins 20 onwards) I kinda understand the dynamic - she's desperate to make a marriage, any marriage work and there's some Stockholm Syndrome Phil worship, and on a weird level it has been interesting watching a toxic marriage but it was so poorly set up and she takes way too much shit from him which she never would have done in the past. Throw in the covering for Ian stuff and being so indifferent over Max and it feels like she's going backwards. This isn't unique to Sharon, but this winds me up more than about anyone else! Also repetitive relationships have sadly been a staple of EE for years. I recall Tanya and Max, Zainab and Mas, Kat and Alfie, Janine and Michael etc. Now it's Phil and Sharon's turn. |

Same. There's certain flashes of it - Who the Hell is K? The wallop she gave him over the bar but there's an awful lot of other doormat stuff that's annoying.

And there's no way Sharon would put up with being second best. They need to go back to portraying them as equals, or split them up for good. |

I want to see some siblings for Sharon. Gavin must have children even Grandchildren so that would be interesting for Sharon.

I still think 4 episodes a week is too much. Having to pad out an extra 2 episodes with cyclical scenes does the show no favours. If they really must produce 2 hours of material a week then they should make 2 hour long episodes instead but I seriously doubt that will ever happen.

I agree. EE would really improve being cut down to 3 episodes. To be fair I think all the main soaps have the same issue.
For example, the Corrie live episode (in fact any live episode) the quality of the acting goes through the roof and that's because they've got time to rehearse properly, it's not all rushed as usual. Cutting the episodes wouldn't just improve the quality of the acting though, we'd have less repetition and general all round 'filler' resulting in much tighter programmes. But on ITV with them being ratings winners and therefore easier to sell advertising there's no way they'll drop any episodes But I'd like to know EE's excuse when they're publicly funded.Anyway, to get back on topic DOWN WITH PHIL! It's ridiculous that they have Sharon just putting up with his constant lies and misdemeanour's. Crikey, I'm starting to think he could kill Denny and she'd just say "ooh Phil! Do that one more time and I'm leaving you!" *roll eyes* |

Like all other aspects of the character it is simply a symptom of TPTB bizarre and total worship of Mitchell - any and every character, storyline and even the very credibility of the show is sacrificed to make him their invincible super thug. Sharon is now the biggest doormat on the show. |

Absolutely, I know it's off-topic but I couldn't agree more!
