So we have created a mobile charging station at work with 2 wireless charging pad and space to add in several leads to charge a variety of handsets. I'm tasked with getting the leads. Question is what do I need to buy? I was thinking 2 x Apple lightening cables, 1 x 30 pin (some peeps still have old Apple phones) and 2 mini USB leads? Do I need anything else? Seems like all the non Apples ones use mini USB or am I wrong?

They use Micro USB. Mini USB is quite old now and phones haven't used it for quite a few years.

But yeah, that sounds like a reasonable mix of cables to me.

Soon you will need USB-C as the Nexus phones from Google announced this week have this new reversible connector. Looks similar to Apple lightning. 4 years later

Could you not quickly survey people at work to better establish the mix of phones? Your proposal does seem reasonable if there is a broadly even split of devices but if more people have iPhones then you may find you need more lightning cables. Or if more people have Android devices you may need more micro USB

You could get a lot of micro usb charging cables and then have a box by them for the Apple Lightning micro USB adapters so you have both bases covered.

I have one of these: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Family-Sized...ords=anker+usb

You can get up to 10 USB slots if you've got lots of charging going on. It might be a better solution than having lots of actual plugs?

Just be careful if you are buying USB cables that people don't steal them!

Well staff have HTC, Nokia Lumia or iPhones .. only a few had the Windows Nokia ones and majority had HTC, but the last 2 years we've switched to mainly iPhones so majority now seem to use an iPhone. In reality the charging station is for clients visiting (its in the waiting area) so can't really survey them, was just looking to capture 90% of users... I'm sure the odd client will turn up with an old school Nokia or Blackberry. I think I can safety ignore old Nokia, but should I consider for Blackberry??

Looks interesting but we have a built in station with wireless charging pads then we have a slot for several leads to come up at the back and essential its just a case of us buying the leads and plugging them in under neath. If they yanked the leads hard enough they could in theory pull them out of the power socket plug but I think that a chance we'll have to take.

Even most recent Blackberry handsets use microUSB.

One white one, one black one. That'll match 90% by colour?

I still carry one in my roll pack of leads as my PMP uses it.
