It depends on the discipline of their celebrity status.

Sportsmen/women: I've yet to see one with previous experience. Think of Denise Lewis, Ramps, Darren Gough, Colin Jackson etc. and this year Anthony Ogogo - no dance training in their history.

Presenters - some have e.g. Caroline Flack some haven't e.g. Kate Garraway (and it showed.) Another example is Natasha Kaplinsky who despite her inexperience proved to be a natural dancer and Gethin Jones who almost made the final.

We've had a couple of chefs James Martin - very good and Gary Rhodes very bad.

Not everyone who appears has trained in performing arts.
