Why would they want a male winner? Whoever is popular and a good dancer will win. It's in their interest to not sabotage a popular opinion. And a winner only gets a plastic ball.

IMO it might be to do with his fanbase. Perhaps the producers don't think he has one. I don't know, but I don't know anyone who thought he was better than some. By giving him the pimp slot he is saved.

I suspect it was more to do with the overlap and the rugby starting at 8pm on ITV. Love him or hate him Peter is the biggest name this year so it stands to reason they would want him almost at the end to stop viewers switching over

Is that a joke? I fail to see what he has done is his life that makes him a 'big name'.

He's getting special treatment and no mistake

I seem to recall that Jason Donovan consistently got the pimp slot or towards the end, while Harry was often in the top half of the show. That didn't stop Harry winning and Jason coming third.
I do believe that the pimp slot has much less power on Strictly than on X factor and as someone commented, the pimp slot is mostly for very uplifting performancy dances (rarely a waltz bar Abbeys and Alijaz if memory serves me right).

Monk seal could share more light on this though.

I bet Peter is loving this.

For me, it's no worse atm than Frankie last year. She was in the final three couples to dance six times last series.

Really, that certainly is some preferential treatment if that is the case.

I thought I was the only one who notice this! Peter Andre is definitely getting preferential treatment and I dislike the fact that he is being made out to be the star of the show already - the Strictly producers must love those Iceland prawn rings!

I'm far more impressed by the likes of Anita and Ainsley who have thrown themselves into the show and are producing stunning and surprising dances than the likes of Peter!

This is the first time he's been off ITV3 in about 5 years

Name me one other celeb who has had the longest career and is instantly recognisable on this year's Strictly?

He's recognisable for one song and marrying Price

Most of the rest are not old enough.

The only one who comes close is Ainsley with Can't Cook, Wont Cook which started 20 years ago.

So therefore I was correct in saying he is the biggest name on this year's Strictly.

I disagree. He's a big name to readers of trashy mags and ITV3 viewers. I'd say that Helen is recognisable because she's in the UK's most popular TV drama, Ainsley has been cooking on TV for 20+ years, Jeremy Vine is an esteemed and popular journalist and TV presenter and Kellie Bright and Georgia May Foote are in the country's two most popular soaps.

Exactly, all far more 'current' and in terms of hours on screen/radio & they have far more exposure.

They must do...

I mean, why else would they give him "preferential treatment"?

If you are attempting to belittle him it would perhaps help if you actually had some true facts about him.

For a start he wasn't on ITV3, it was actually ITV2 and he hasn't even been on there for almost 2 years now.

Also, he has been on a few ITV1 programmes. He was a team captain with Jason Mansford on a show called 'Odd one in' which was aired on Saturday nights. He was a guest judge on another Saturday night programme called 'Your face sounds familiar'.
He was a guest presenter on a programme called 'Sunday Scoop'. He has done 2 series of 60 minute makeover.

And more recently he was one of the presenters on the RSPCA programme Give a pet a home, which was on every week for a few weeks.

So I'm pretty sure people who watch the mainstream channels are well aware of who he is.

My OH knows little about dancing and never watches Strictly but I made him watch it last evening and he passed comments on several of the celebs negatively He said that Jay was the best dancer of the evening and I agree
