I've yet to read one comment, or hear anyone say they enjoy those ridiculous and pointless VT's. Even if producers don't read this forum, they surely realise that it would be difficult to find anyone who actually enjoys them, so why is it continuing?

Its a waste of time for the viewer, but an even bigger waste of time for the couple who have to practice corny lines for a 2 min farce that serves no purpose rather than concentrating on their routine. I'm convinced the public would much prefer to see them in training and it would be easier for all concerned to just show a few clips from that.

Since its obvious that no one enjoys it, has anyone got any ideas why it contiues? :/

I have no idea but I am in complete agreement with you. They are totally cringe worthy and awful to watch. I thought Carol's was particularly bad last night. I'd much prefer to just watch them in training without all the other nonsense.

I believe it's cheaper than having 15 film crews tied to 15 training rooms at all manners of different training times to get training footage. That's my understanding of why they do it but it's an absolute cringefest and invariably when loo breaks, drink freshening and snack bowls are refilled in this house......which used to happen when Brucie was on.

Even Brucie used to say "Lets see them in training" or something like that and we used to see some of the footage from the past week but now it is dreadful. Black pudding, jelly babies, a day at the races and whatever that was that Carol was doing,those snippets were truly awful and I can't see them getting any better anytime soon.

Live shows do need some sort of filler between the performances so that the stage can be prepared. Does Strictly still need that filler on recorded TV shows? What do the live audience get as entertainment while the floor is prepared? Would it be worse if Tess needed to rabbit her way through these slots?

I agree. If it was just training it wouldn't be so bad but the mucking about annoys me and probably the celebrities find it a waste of time. Jay having his hair cut wasn't too bad because it was quite relevant but some of the others like Carols were silly.

The 'filler' just needs to be training footage - something pertinent to the performance we're about to watch.

A filler is needed, and I'm not too fussy with what they replace it with, my main point is that the VT's they use now are awful and liked by no one. I appreciate it might be easier than filming training scenes, but it has been done before and it doesn't have to be the best scenes. I would be happy to see just small random clips that happened to be captured at the time without commentary, or a little interview with the couple...anything really other than a cringeworthy farce that wastes the couples time and no one enjoys.

Yes, I agree. I understand producers need 2 minutes to fill for the next dancers to prepare but I'd rather just see a small amount of training and even part of their dance from the week before. To see them mucking about, pulling silly faces and falling all over the place makes it look like cheap tv when I personally think SCD is way above all that. Just my thoughts.

SCD isn't above that at all.

Isn't the cheapness of the VTs a redeeming feature somehow? At least we know that they're a waste of time but not a waste of money.
