Lisa Aziz not knowing how to pronounce "Sian Blake" - I thought everyone knew Sian was pronounced "Shawn" and not "Sy-an"?

In this case the actresses' name is pronounced 'Sy-an' not 'Sharn' like the Welsh name.

I also had to check as its new my nieces names!

Be good if LBC got Alex Salmond to chair the London mayoral debate? Khan and Goldsmith are work colleagues so he is on an equal footing and could add a wee bit of devilment if procedings needed livening up.

Yes, it's true. She was a 'Sy-anne'

Was it hard for you? Putting pronunciation aside, Lisa tends to scream like an avian/parrot falling off its perch in betwixt.

Are we lesser mortals allowed to comment on the J O'B programme - topics, callers, etc - as part of the LBC daily schedule, as opposed to criticism of his life outside the studio? Or is any mention of him now totally off limits?

I don't see why not.
I'll certainly be commenting on him if the occasion arises.

i'm not especially interested in where he lives or how often his wife washes her hair though so you may have to look elsewhere for 7 posts per hour on such topics.

I think mention of JOB is still permissable on this thread. Nothing said that would indicate otherwise.

Indeed. I think the clue is in the name of the other thread that DS created, which is specifically about MikeRackabit's views on JOB, not just about JOB.

A clever move by the Mods, I feel!

Made me properly laugh and IMO it is the ideal solution for everyone!

Heard various snippets of Salmond commenting on how he's going to be great on the radio as from next week. Jovial, some might say. A very long stretch from the dour personality we"re used to seeing and hearing. Has he had a humour transplant?

I'm struggling understand the rationale for this. If it's to extend LBC's reach in Scotty Land then maybe. I can't see them tuning in to anything other than the hour in question though. The station is still very London and most Scots will not be interested in thst.. The other possibility is that Dale is feeling left out and jealous of Ferrari and so wanted his own hour with a political "heavyweight" seeing as he doesn't have one right now. But if Salmond is the best they can come up with its a poor state of affairs.

All the mods said was that attempts to make the discussion on this thread only about whether James O'Brien is a good presenter or not are no longer permissible. I think the issue here is that this is an LBC General Chit-Chat thread, and yet 90% of the discussion regarded one presenter alone and not the rest of LBC. As long as the James O'Brien discussion is kept in proportion to everything else, and there aren't endless debates on aspects of James O'Brien not relevant to his programme, then there's nothing wrong with it, as that is what this thread is for.

Yes, and I think it's a good idea from the mods. The main thread for people with moderate or reasonable views to have an intelligent discussion, another thread for people to spout hatred about someone they have no justifiable reason to dislike.

I wasn't aware the mods had said this to anyone or posted this anywhere on the thread? Thank you for the information though. Now I know and can post accordingly. Best wishes to all.

I agree, The LBC thread gets bogged down with so many James O'Brien posts, it's becoming tiresome.

I post about SA quite a bit, but I don't post all the time.

Steve Allen - "the only reason I'm here is because I didn't win the lottery"
On holidays, "if I want to eat foreign food I go to Costco"

He also seems to be fixated on TV chef Phil Vickery for some reason lately.

Steve talking about a venue said, "I see old school friends there but they would never recognise me now as I'm older since I went school".

Theo then stated that Corbyn had actually used his six questions very well to make some very good points and played a short clip of Corbyn asking one question about how government cuts had impacted on the recent floods but added...

LBC makes its own editorial decisions.
If they weren't talking about PMQs in terms of holding the government to account, that's their fault, nobody elses.
They had the choice.”

"Yesterday in Parliament" on Radio 4 this morning covered PMQs in much more detail. It included Cameron's Shakespeare puns, but didn't claim they were adlibs. More importantly, it did include Corbyn's questions, which were all related to the floods and the government's response. As usual, Cameron didn't give straight answers and, in my opinion, didn't make a good impression. All spin and no substance. Obviously this is what Theo thinks parliament is all about.
