One mumbling guy insisted the US had a total immigration ban for thirty years after the war. Rubbish.
Do you happen to know what the immigration policy of the USA was from the mid 1920's to the mid 1960's? I have heard some slightly differing reports but they do seem to range from it being a total ban to it being an extremely restrictive policy.

There were restrictions and even instances of repatriation to Mexico, but certainly no total ban.

Whilst on the topic, did you know that there were no border controls whatsoever in thr UK before 1905?

Interesting reading. Not a total ban - but certainly restrictive, not to Mexico particularly though.

I can't think why Steve relegates such women to being 'filthy'. His 'special' type of reasoning might see them as all chavs coming from filthy dirty council estates.
Vallen probably exhibits a 'Norman Bates' syndrome and thinks all women, except his mother and relatives are all inferior and objects of continued criticism and derision.

1953. Two great uncles of mine emigrated to the US with wives and kids. They were both structural engineers and lived and worked in Boston. Hence why we have loads of American relatives in our family who come to Scotland a lot to ask day questions, talk loudly and comment on how small everything is

I did not know that, thanks for filling in a gap in my knowledge. I think it is possble to make a very strong and appealing argument to say that any human being should be allowed to roam anywhere on the face of the planet without restriction.

Begin with duvet cover inside-out. Match (closed) corners of cover to duvet. Pull cover over duvet. Shake*. Done.
* rattle & roll optional!
I wish you'd told me years ago! I often end up inside the duvet cover along with the duvet. Then completely blind put the corners together inside. It can be a struggle.

Shelagh Fogarty on Celebrity Mastermind next Saturday. Her specialist subject - Pope John Paul 11.
I dipped into the conversation with a caller who said that he respected people's right to have a belief he didn't respect the beliefs themselves of flying horse, talking ants etc. Shelagh got surly and accused him of using the arguments of a 16year old and that "he needed to do better than that". She was obviously stung by a very simple and pragmatic point of view because it pointed out the ridiculous of the actual beliefs religious people supposedly hold. At that point i switched channels as this was again Shelagh going on about her Catholicism about which I've no interest, only pity.

Shelagh is utterly consumed by her Catholicism and she seems to bring this into almost every show, it's absurd and totally unnecessary in my opinion. I don't want to hear about Shelagh's weird views and if it was another religion I would feel the same - can you imagine a Muslim presenter being indulged in this way? It's completely ridiculous and LBC ought to have a long look at this nonsense. Shelagh is making herself virtually unlistenable with this claptrap, add her other religion and slavish devotion to the NHS (which I am NOT criticising before someone starts all that again) and you have a heady cocktail of bizarre behaviour.

Don't care what the difference between an eidedown and a duvet is but I would love someone to come on air and explain how to get a duvet into the cover without laying on the floor and having a five minute wrestling match! I can cook and clean and all manner of household chores but changing the beds fills me with dread.
You need pegs (or bulldog clips) Spread the cover on the bed and push the duvet part way in. Take hold of the top left-hand corner of the duvet, and push it up into the matching corner of the cover. Hold in place with peg (on outside), Do the same with other three corners. Fasten cover. Pick up by bottom edge and give it a good shake until the duvet aligns with the cover. Remove pegs. Works for me.

Thanks gs. Will compare and contrast with CD method Will report back at some stage assuming I escape the clutches of the duvet!

Another little earner for LBC presumably. Explains the 'potentially 44m listeners' remark.

The first #MysteryHour of 2016 coming up at 12. It now features on British Airways in-flight entertainment so you could become world famous!

Heard BA being mentioned but did not catch the context. You think JOB has had a peek on here and is taking the Michael by mentioning 44 million?

Nah. I'm sure he would have mentioned it anyway. It's quite something! Presumably 44m is BA's annual passenger roster. That's one in the eye for Steve's boast about having the highest number of podcast subscribers.

It's a package of the big hitters of LBC. NF, ID and JOB MH.

Iain Dale just tackled Katie Hopkins surprisingly robustly - she did not like it

Stop it! I knew you'd have more know-how than muggins here. I'll try this with some bulldogs! (clips)

I didn't get the point of that.

Iain wasn't discussing the subject that she was commenting on, so why bring her on?

In fact, I struggle to see why her opinions are given so much credence.

We all know she is just a professional controversialist who arguably doesn't believe all the stuff she spouts, so why do they media fall over themselves to air her views?

Very odd indeed.

Well said! Some dimwits are completely taken in by Katie Hopkins. It still remains though, some of her 'act' is deeply offensive in the print.

I see she's back in US shock-jock mode after holding it together for her Christmas shift on LBC. Grown-ups should really just ignore her until she learns to behave.

Just heard the repeat of this interview. I'm increasingly impressed with Iain Dale. Hopkins' whole shtick relies on making inflammatory points until she get shouted at, then she can claim the moral high ground.

He handled her a good deal better than that, well done to him.
