So did any of you kind souls buy a copy of The Big Issue from O'Brien yesterday in Covent Garden as part of 'Volunteers Week'?
No doubt he'll have something to say about the topic on this morning's show. |

There was another video clip of Brian on the home page of the LBC website today and again he was looking like a fool with his cans over only his left ear and his right ear exposed.
Whoever writes those blurbs that describe the video and audio clips is prone to some ridiculous exaggeration. The impression given is always that the caller has been completely demolished by the presenter but in the clips I have played it is not like that at all. I was looking for the Wee Eck phone-in from last week but I couldn't find it. |

The Dale, Bull, Collins triumvirate is excellent radio on LBC. Collins has grabbed the 10pm show and made it his own with aplomb. Hard work and experience paying off for Col IC.

It happened to Anthony Davis And Ian Collins too It's as if all their former sparkle and wit is exorcised from them Then just occasionally you get the odd hint of what was I think it's the sticking to a rigid agenda that does it Too much politics and health issues I think that's why people are hoping against hope for some lighter stuff from the reincarnation of Talk Radio uk If they catch on then maybe just maybe LBC may also loosen up a bit We can only hope |

You usually come across as quite "in the know" but I have to say I am a little puzzled by that. I have seen people do it but usually only when they are inexperienced or in a very specific set of circumstances.
So in this scenario, what do you think Brian is listening to in his left ear and what is he listening to in his right ear? Surely you would not normally monitor via the Off Air feed would you? The problem there would not so much be the compression but the profanity delay. The norm is to monitor the desk output when you are in normal full-flow broadcasting mode and you do it with your cans properly on your head over both ears. You don't see the other hosts sitting there looking like plonkers the way Brian does. Not even that silly old goat The Farridge. In his left ear he would have the output in his right he would just be hearing his own voice as you would in normal day to day life. With both headphones on you can get a strange reverb effect that is alot less noticeable with one ear. In regards to monitoring the desk ouput I've never known this to be done unless it's not possible not have a Off Air ouput. Once compression and limiting has been applied it can sound very different to the desk ouput hence why you would listen to a off air output. LBC use a pre delay feed to listen to in the studio. |

Anyone else up for thoughts on Iain Dale?
I think Iain Dale is a great radio presenter and a very likeable bloke. I am not impressed with Ian Collins. He sounds like a Right Winger pretending to be neutral and "a nice bloke" but often the mask slips. The last time I listened he was looking on twitter right at the end of his show, and getting upset that people had sussed him on this..... |

I tend not to listen to the first hour and my preference would be for the whole show to be Politics or hard news. But that is just me.

Saw on another thread that George Galloway has tweeted that he will have a new show on national radio soon. Sounds like GG has signed for the new station so we may well have heard the last from him on LBC.

Wonder who else they've got up their sleeves I think we can take it as certainty that Iain Lee is on board ? |

That first caller to JOB was excellent. Plenty of good points and was clear and articulate. That is the standard other callers should aim for.

OK Bangla. The caller (and former poster) I am thinking about was Johnny from Brixton, does anyone know if that was him this morning?
If not they both have exactly the same opinion on the lack of non white presenters on LBC and Johnny from Brixton is most certainly on the LBC Facebook group which by the way is not affiliated with the station despite what many think LBC have their own page |

Thanks Paul. Johnny posted loads on here but suddenly was gone. I'll leave it there, but would say it's a shame when posters flounce, every opinion is a worthy opinion as far as I am concerned.

I too found many of his posts quite entertaining One thing you may perhaps be able to enlighten me about if you can I was an LBC listener only occasionally when I went down to my company's head office at Park Royal until LBC went on DAB but I'm sure I can remember him as a very regular contributor to Steve Allens show ? However when I started to listen full time as it were and began to post on the Facebook page after being invited on there by two of Steves fans I discover he had seemingly turned against Steve big time I just wondered why ?? I won't bring flouncing up either (oh bu##er just did) as I was accused of doing that myself on several occasions on here And in fairness I probably did 😄 |

I don't think Jonny actually flounced; he just stopped posting. Flouncers usually change their mind and wriggle back after a few weeks.
