This reminded me of something I saw at first hand many years ago
I was working in a bookshop in fact it was my first job
My boss took on a bubbly 23 year old Anerican girl just for the busy period when the students were buying their textbooks prior to return to uni in September
We got talking as you do and she told me that she and her family were just in the country for eight months
Her mother Manchester born and bred had emigrated to the states when she was twenty vowing never to return
That was until she was told that she had to have intricate major open heart surgery which in the states would have cost many thousands of dollars
Her solution ?, come back to the U.K. Have it all done here for free which she did returning home exactly eight months later and never setting foot her again since
That as I say was some forty years ago and it seems to me precious little has changed since
Should ex pats who moved away be allowed back
They are draining the NHS of cash which we need to treat those who have stayed and paid in all their lives
Do we all think that we are still a soft touch ??
