Pataks Pickles

Does anyone think they don't taste the same anymore. It seems like they have lost their authentic Indian taste. I recently bought some lime pickle and it was the hottest, sourest pickle I'd ever tasted. It was meant to be mild.

It has definitely changed since Associated British Foods took over.

I've been eating them for years and haven't noticed any sudden change

I mainly have Chilli Pickle and Brinjal (Aubergine) and haven't had the Lime for a couple of years. Maybe it's just that one ?..............though I always remember it as being sour which is why I prefer it to the sweeter ones which supermarket own brands usually are

the patak's chilli pickle is bonser mate. I can cope with lime pickle but it's not my favourite. The chilli is great, and no one else in the house eats it.

Maybe I had a rogue jar. I am sure the lime didn't taste so sour.

It's possible, there are many stories of food manufacturers being lent on by the Government to make their products "healthier" - less salt, fat, sugar or whatever - which has knock-on effects on overall flavour.
