I'm pleased Anton has a decent chance this year. But Katie should win only if she deserves it.
Surely the place for this type of thread is the appreciation section? |

Who is this we you speak of?
I think Anton and Katie have made an excellent start but I do object to fans of any couple holding out the begging bowl for votes. Those who like A&K will vote for them and I think they could go a long way this series - however others have their own favourites and become irritated when hassled for their votes. |

Some Katie & Anton betting odds from large betting companies:
OUTRIGHT WINNER: William Hill: 5/1 Coral: 9/2 Ladbrokes: 5/1 (odds shortening) Betfred: 5/1 SkyBet: 9/2 (odds shortening) TOP WOMAN: William Hill: 9/4 Coral: 15/8 Ladbrokes: 9/4 Betfred: 2/1 SkyBet: 7/4 (odds shortening) Only Jay & Peter are ahead in terms of "Outright Winner", and she's favourite across the board for "Top Woman".

Those who wish them both well of course. You don't have to include yourself and the 'begging bowl' comment is OTT. Nobody is being 'hassled' - lighten up. Katie & Anton have got off to a cracking start and many viewers are really pleased for Anton, so stop being a grouch and take the post in the happy light hearted way it was intended.
I can see that they might be top or near the top of the leaderboard in their ballroom performances. A lot less certain is their latin - but they are popular and such popularity might carry them through their less good weeks. Just because I object to being hassled doesn't give you the right to insult and I suggest you withdraw your wagging finger. |

I don't find Katie likable at all. She's far too 'head girl' for my liking. I will admit that she is a better dancer than I would have expected her to be, but | would never vote for her.. Do people really vote for the professional dancer?

Had you taken the trouble to read my comments before posting your own you would know that you simply echoed my sentiments re; the excellent start they've made.

Pffftttt!! Your post did make me laugh, have you any idea how pompous you sound? Where's the wagging finger smiley when it's needed? I'll roll my eyes instead.
BTW If I hadn't read you post I wouldn't have been able to reply to it. <rolls eyes again> If you read my post properly why the need to repeat my comment - were you unable to compose your own? So far you have called me an old grump and pompous. When you aren't attempting to insult me you try a patronising attitude and fail on both counts. Keep trying if it amuses you - but be warned more articulate people have tried similar tactics and failed just as miserably. Thank you for making me smile - albeit with disdain. |

The roll eyes smiley was dropped for a reason and I usually found it was used mainly by those with limited vocabulary.

I 'm not usually superstitious but I feel this thread is unlucky for Anton and Katie. I feel I ought to go and pick a bunch of four leaf clovers for them, greet a few magpies or whatever to counterbalance it.
In my view better to say que sera, sera (in viennese waltz time) and leave it at that. |

Only the Economist has them lower in rankings than the quarter finals.
I think this year Katie and Anton will get votes from curious wellwishers to see "how far they can go". It is time people stopped seeing Strictly purely as a popularity contest and based on size of fan bases. Popularity will win votes, certainly, but the dance-off sorts out the lame ducks from the flying swans.

Agree Terry, I just enjoy watching Anton dance, he may not be great at all of them, but he is always entertaining. I am really looking forward to his charleston, they are usually very funny!
![]() ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ Hah Yes! That would be really something. he wouldn't come down for a week! The high levels of pomposity to be found in dancing circles still never ceases to amaze me daisydee, I try to keep my feet on the ground and live in the real world, Antons everlasting popularity is down to the fact that he is a very amusing and charming man with great charisma who appeals to normal people in the real world, everyone I come into contact with loves to watch his effortless and graceful dancing just as you and I do, he entertains us endlessly and that is why viewers love him. |

It will all depend on Anton & Katie as to how far they get. - If they keep going well & get the voters on side then they could get to the final.

Hmmmm, I can think of a good few winners who didn't necessarily 'deserve' it (i.e. they weren't the best dancer in the final) - but their popularity won out. So maybe a moot point there. I would love to see Anton win it (yes, Anton, not Katie) - it would enable him to retire to ITT/the judging panel on a high note!

I do live in the real world, and always considered myself normal, but I don't buy into the kantons love in...in fact he annoys the hell out of me. But each to their own and as Anton would say har har har, get in... marvellous, he seem to suffer from limited vocabulary.

I don't think "getting" him to the final is necessary, I think they'll get there anyway on merit. Could even win it.

I would love to see Anton in the final as the past few years he seems to have been overlooked by the producers and just dumped with the worst contestants and it shows just how much he thinks of Strictly by the fact he never seems to grumble and keeps returning series after series even though he must always dread the initial pair up show just in case he gets the weakest celeb. I can think of many pros who would walk if they were given the type of partners he has been over the years with no chance of getting further than a few weeks.
I do, however, think that we should be saying Blackpool first though rather than the final as the pairs that do well that week tend to go onto the final as well. |
