Agree.

Jamelia has always said her feet are her problem from the very beginning and, since they are attached to her legs she has an issue there which she will have to face.

My sympathy with her lack of technique is to with the fact that she is not being taught how to correct her big bete noire.

Instead Tristan is covering her with bad flashy choreo, which isn't helping one bit.
Which is pretty much what I was saying.

My honest opinion is, and I know it is only week two, but these are things for him to have taught in those first three weeks, lay the foundation of what she should be doing with her feet and legs, I mean in two dances I do not think she closed them once.

Now going forward they have four days to learn a whole dance which doesn't leave time to teach the basics which should've been explained to her when starting out.

Like I said they are not small things you can correct in an hour or two, say like a funny hand, from what I saw Tristan would have to be the greatest teacher to correct this and I really don't rate him.

It was a surprise to me because I was expecting it to be Brendan and Kirsty

Also, a lot of people (including me) assumed that she might be quite good as a dancer but so far she is very much in the C-stream so a likely candidate for the B2 for the foreseeable future until she is eliminated.

I thought she improved considerably from the first week, given the chance she could be one of those to go on a 'journey' if she is kept in long enough. Problem is, due to her outspoken opinions on LW, I can't imagine she is going to have much of a fanbase out there.

I know it's meant to be a dancing competition and all that but personality/likeability does come into it whether we like it or not. Unfortunately from what I have seen of her on LW, she isn't all that likeable!
I think you make a good point here. Whatever others on this site may think there is a multitude to voters out there who do take perseved personality into account when voting. My daughter said she would not vote for anyone who said shops should not sell anything over size 12 (before anyone comments that it is sour grapes she is a small size herself so she has no axe to grind!)

I personally thought the dance was OK but I did not want to vote for her and she will probably be always in the middle which is not a good position to be in.

Sickle feet are harder to fix though. Combine that with zero dance experience and you are on a steep teaching curve! It will take longer.

I'd rather wave goodbye to Carol who cannot dance at all.

I feel Tristan needs to knuckle down with the basics this week. He seems to think more about the overall 'look' of a routine rather than getting the basics down and then building a performance around that. Jamelia was going in and out of pop video mode - I imagined Tristan thinking if she just sells those moments no one will notice the poor Cha Cha bits. Well, we did.

I doubt her sickle feet will improve, it can take years anyway.

If she would just close her feet at times, that's a start.
When I started learning cha cha the teacher said something simple but easy to remember, one leg has to brush the other one.

One thing I noticed in her practise she was wearing trainers most of the time, this will not help at all in getting her foot placement correct and may explain why she is so heavy on her feet at times. It may be ok for pros to run through a dance in them, but you really need the toe heel connection to learn it all. It is a bit of a bugbear for me, I agree with Ian on it.

If you have sickle feet, combined with a lack of axis awareness, you cannot close your feet properly, nor can you brush one against the other - without falling over.

This is particularly relevant if you have large feet (above a size 6) and zero previous training.

You may think it's simple, but it's not. What you have to do with a student like that is compensate for that flaw and then get them to practice and practice. A child's feet can be corrected, but not necessarily an adult's.

If you are a teacher you have to work around it. Have you ever taught dance?

That is my last word on the subject.

I felt sorry for her as she in no way deserved to be in the dance-off. She simply suffered the dreaded fate of having to go first and by the time the phone lines opened most of the audience would have completely forgotten about her. Having been in the dance off though she will probably now gain more support and be safe for at a few more weeks....

Yes I've taught for a number of years.

We have had girls with sickle feet who bring their legs closer together then Jamelia. I don't mean just side to side, she doesn't bring it behind on a lockstep either.

You have kind of made my point that earlier you was disagreeing with. It is a much bigger problem then a quick fix or errors for week two.

To me she danced as if she was in a pop video, doing whatever moves she thought made her look sexy, rather than the correct dance moves.

If this was a who-can-dance-most-like-Beyonce competition Jamelia would walk it. 💃

Over a size 12!!!!!!!!
That is outrageous!
I thought she meant over a size 18 .. which is bad enough. God!!

I wasn't surprised she was in the DO. If she's in the bottom half of the leader board she doesn't have the fan base to save her. More importantly imo, she doesn't have the likeability of (for example) Carol or Jeremy who will be saved by voters because they like them as people, even if they're appalling dancers

Seconded. I find Carol, Kirsty and Daniel are terribly dull, and would prefer to watch Jamelia, Ainsley and even Iwan to the three of them.

And there in lies the problem. I am old enough to remember the few hits that she had back in the early 00's but if you ask most people about her they will likely tell you 'She's that bint who made the no plus size shops on the high street comment!'. Being known for making a comment like that isn't likely going to endear you to many people, particularly fatties like moi!

PS I am trying to give her the benefit of the doubt though, she was nowhere near as bad as Iwan, who I love since he represented Wales in the Commonwealth Games, and I would say Jeremy and Carole are worse than her too. Problem is, Carole is so sweet and has a fanbase from the BBC Breakfast Show and Jeremy will get the 'Let's keep him in because he is so bad it's funny' vote, plus he seems so enthustiastic and happy! Jamelia just seems so nervous and almost miserable.

I don't find her that bad on Strictly, I was expecting an awfully annoying character. But yes her reputation would put many viewers off.

I wasn't at all familiar with this foot in mouth situation she'd gotten herself into until she signed up to do strictly. After finding a couple of articles I've seen no mention of banning clothing "over a size 12" from the high street. The host of LW categorically said she was not referring to sizes 14 -18 when she put the question to the panel. The hysteria is so silly, it's one person's opinion. People love to hate and be up in arms at somebody or something that's just not worth the fuss.

Still 14 isn't exactly big, especially if you are taller, you can be a 14 and not overweight or obese. I would think she sometimes needs a bigger size on the bottom in certain shops.

On the whole I do not like her for her treatment of animals, so even if she was amazing like Natalie, Kara or Rachael I wouldn't vote for her, neither would my plus sized Mother.

Disliking someone isn't the same as hating them. I don't 'hate' Jamelia, but I think her views on plus size clothes are silly and opinionated, so when it comes to choosing people to have one of my votes, I'm not going to choose her.

It's not a vote to say who is going to leave, it's a popularity vote. Someone who's made themselves unpopular with some viewers and didn't dance extraordinarily well is probably going to be struggling for votes. If she improves I might vote for her.

I was def surprised.

There were others like Carol, Daniel and Jeremy, over the two dances that were worse dancers than her, imo. I know some people vote on who they like, fancy etc but if I did vote I'd vote for someone based on how they danced compared to others.

She wasn't the best dancer by any margin, but she certainly wasn't the worst either, and not deserving of being bottom two this week, imo

I thought Jamilia suffered from being first up on a very long show.
I was all set to start voting online, where you get 3 free votes, and when they re-capped all the dances she was just one of too many that I wasn't going to vote for.

Oh what has happened with her regarding animals?
If she did say the comment about peeps above a size 12, I find that hysterical as she will be joining their ranks soon! Her bum & boobs are looking pretty pulchritudinous IMHO & if she doesn't stay in & loose some poundage she'll be trying to squash into a 12.
Hoist by her own petard methinks.
Her face on the results show was a picture, she looked genuinely shocked not to go through. It must be hard to realise the public are not keen enough on you to vote.
