Contacts dissapeared on Samsung S5 after Software update

I updated to the latest Android software yesterday on my S5 and my contacts seem to have gone. When I click on contacts, the screen just comes up and says" Contact list is being updated".

Yet, when I go to Watsapp, the names are all there. Does anyone have any ideas where the contacts list on my phone has gone please??

I know it's simple but have you rebooted the phone?

How do I do that? I wouldnt lose all of my photos etc if I did that would I?

He means turn off the phone and turn it back on using the power button... and no, doing that wouldnt make you lose any data

Rebooting doesnt work unfortunately, and even when I have a missed call and then go to "logs", the message is "Contact list is being updated"

Are you sure your phone is not trying to download a backup?

Everything else is working as it should, its just the contacts and the log has nothing there... Just shows that circle spinning (showing its trying to load the names) and it says contact list is being updated... all my text messages are in place, but with the numbers only, not the names that have been previously saved with them... Thanks for tips
