Since I got home from work at around 3PM, one of our cats followed everywhere I went in the house, which is unusual. Unless he wants something, he usually pays zero attention to me.

When I stand or sit in one spot for a while, he sits and stares intensely at me. The I'm-judging-you-for-failing-to-notice look.

Right now, he's sitting on the desk, staring intensely at me over the laptop. His head moves away a little when I reach over to scratch his head. This is typical of him as he usually sees me as a waste of space.

I changed his food and water bowls (not interested), opened a door to let him out (didn't want to go out) and paid him some attention (indifferent as usual). He doesn't meow (when he wants something, he sure does let me know with loud meowing and an occasional paw wipe). Doesn't seem distressed, either.

His behaviour is making me feel something's wrong, but I can't see anything wrong.

Please tell me he's just messing with me?

The other two cats are fine. Snoozing away on a sofa on my left.

On a silly note, no idea, but he ain't happy with you and I would expect him to make an attempt on your life any second. Be careful on the stairs, that's where most attempts are made.

On a serious note, no idea, but if his behaviour is properly 'unusual' to the norm, might be worth a check up at the vet, even if just to ease your mind and he's just 'being a cat, odd sometimes'.

As i have said before to quote Deanna Troi "sometimes a cat is just a cat".

Sounds perfectly normal behaviour based on all the motorised bundles of fur my wife has had.

I was going to suggest it might be worth a check up at the Docs. Dogs can sense when there's something wrong in a human, maybe cats can too. On a less alarming note - maybe you picked up an aroma that unsettles him.
