Which dance was closest to the Week 2 "WOW" dance?

For the last couple of series we've had Sophie's Charleston, Jake's Salsa, and Pixie's Waltz; I know the scoring wasn't as high, but do you think any of the Week 2 dances had a similar impact?

I was actually thinking about this the other day. Well, for a few seconds.

In terms of delivering something unexpected that'll likely be remembered in future, Katie and Anton's Tango?

I wouldn't put Pixie's waltz in the same box as Jake's salsa or Sophie's charleston. The latter two surprised; Pixie affirmed she was a great dancer. I would say we have not had a Jake or Sophie experience though Katie's tango comes closest in terms of great dance, atmosphere and pleasing surprise.

Closest for me was either Anita's Charleston or Katie's tango

None of them for me had total wow as in something utterly unexpected but Jay's Waltz did come near to being a wow dance in its own right, as did Katie's Tango imo.

None to be honest, when you think of it the show wasn't as good as other second weeks because of the lack of a wow dance

Jay's waltz. I was mesmerized, transported into another world, I had goosebumps. ..I can't stop watching it

Jay's waltz for me followed by Katie's tango. The rest paled into insignificance compared to those two.

I tell you what is WOW. Anton leading a 'best' poll. OK so he is in second place but even so, when did that last happen?

that's true, but Anton is not a great latin dancer, and now they have Cha Cha Cha.

maybe Katie outdances Anton

Jay & Aliona Waltz closely followed by Anita & Gleb Charleston

I don't think any of the dances had the level of wow as Sophie's charleston or Jakes salsa. The closest while watching it would have been for me Katie's and antons tango, but on rewatch inf I find Jay and Aliona's more wow.

Jay's waltz for me. Having only seen him dance once previously I wondered what he'd do in week 2 and he didn't disappoint. His waltz and Anita's Charleston are the only two I've re-watched.

Of course Sophie, Jake and Pixie didn't win. It's not really in the celeb's interests to do something in week 2 that none of their other dances quite live up to. I get the feeling that a couple of the better known front runners are holding fire this year, getting rid of some dances they are less confident of while they are in no danger, and keeping the 'wow' for later in the series (Peter's salsa, for example, should be one).

Jay and Katie were the dances from Saturday that I have rewatched, particularly Jay's, but lovely as they are, you still feel that they've got the potential to be much better, which is a much better place to be in in week 2, imo, than having been too much too early.

That's a very good point. For me, Sophie's Charleston was so superb that nothing she could do would match it (although her Paso came a very close second).

I was dreading Katie's tango when I first saw what music it would be danced to, but by 'tangoing' the song, they proved the point that so many people have been making - certain dances really need some authenticity in their music.

If she's done the same routine but to full on Lady Gaga music, I wonder if people would have loved it as much?

Probably not. They definitely picked the right music,
But getting the music choice right is all part and parcel of a great routine, and it doesn't take away the fact that Katie did some stunning staccato. Most celebs can never get that right and it adds such a lot to the look of a tango.
I voted for Katie & Anton in the poll. The only dance I've watched again - several times.
