Hi

I already had BT Sport on line by laptop which BT started charging £5.

I then saw that if you have the BTTV starter pack for free you also get BT Sport for free, so I ordered BTTV Starter.

It came, I plugged it all up, tuned it in and made sure the Ethernet cable was plugged in and the Internet worked all OK.

However - NO BT Sport. I phoned their helpline (India) and after a bit of faffing the person said she would add it to my account.

My question therefore - is this correct and you have to make a seperate order to get the BT Sport on BTTV? I was under the illusion that it automatically came with the BTTV order.

I hate to think what it may have done to my billing. Hopefully the £5pm will be ended.

Thanks in advance for any reply.

I think that's right as it shows as a charge and then a credit on my bill. Never had that before I ordered the TV.

Did you order online as I think I had to check a box to get it

I ordered the BTTV starter on-line but don't remember a tickbox. As I already had BT Sports via on-line viewing I thought it would just be activated as part of the BTTV order.

It isn't, so I phoned and the person has added it but I have to wait another 2 days to see.

Wondered if anybody had had the same experience.

My experience with getting channels activiated on a BT box is they say up to 24 hours - but usually done within minutes.

Oh well, it's been 20 hours or so and not on yet, so I'll just have to wait and see if it's on by their date of tommorrow.

The person I spoke to never sounded very knowledgeable and initially told me incorrect info. I have a feeling that tommorrow II will be back on to them somehow.

I ordered BT TV online a few days ago and there was a tick box option for BT Sport. I already had it as the online only service but made sure to tick that box so I could get it on the Youview Box when it arrives on Monday.

I ordered the Entertainment Plus package so it's only costing £2.50 a month more because BT Sport is now free instead of £5 a month.

I'm glad I saw this thread as I've had the same problem after receiving my Youview box today. Now I know I'm not the only one who hasn't got BT Sport and like the OP I ordered the starter pack which according to their website promised the BT Sports channels as well as the AMC channel (which I've noticed also hasn't shown up on my EPG).

Unfortunately, my problems don't end there. After scanning my Youview box for channels I found not only did it not give me any BT Sport or AMC channels but it missed out a large proportion of the non-BBC channels as well. Before anyone asks, I'm in a strong Freeview area and when I plug in my aerial cable on to the back of my tv I get every Freeview channel with a perfect signal for for all of them. By contrast, when I put the aerial cable into the back of my Youview box and then scanned for channels, I picked up only the BBC channels plus dodgy signals of ITV, C4, C5 and some other channels but the rest weren't picked up at all. At the end of the scan it said it picked up 32 Freeview channels and 0 internet channels. Can anyone explain this?

Sounds like it could be a dodgy box or look into the fact the signal could be too strong and overloading the tuner. The Internet channels should work regardless as long as your are plugged directly into the home hub.

Well, I've solved the Freeview channels part of the problem. I'd been wondering whether having the tv in the lounge on at the same time was interfering somehow with the Youview box's ability to scan the Freeview channels properly, especially as I'm using a Y-Splitter to connect both tvs into the same aerial socket to use the same roof-top aerial. To test out the theory I first scanned the tv with the Youview box while the other tv was on at the same time like I did yesterday and I picked up just 32 channels again. Then I switched off the lounge tv and re-scanned the other tv again. This time I picked up 147 channels and sure enough when I flicked through all the channels I could see I'd picked up the entire Freeview line-up with a perfect signal quality for every single one of those channels. So maybe you're right it was a dodgy Youview box as the smart tv itself I use for Youview had no problem tuning in all the Freeview channels by itself before I got Youview and despite the lounge tv being on at the same time. Or maybe your other theory about the signal being too strong and overloading the tuner could also be right. Either way it seems the other tv was the culprit.

That just leaves me with one problem: I still couldn't pick up any BT Sports channels. So can you confirm whether I should be receiving these channels with a BT TV starter pack and I just need to wait for them to arrive as the OP is doing or whether I need to have them added on seperately?

They will still be on the EPG regardless of whether they are activated or not. If they are not there you have a problem. Make sure you are using the bt hub as this properly supports multi casting.

If you order it, it's currently 'free'. They can't just add it as they could remove the discount (that makes it 'free') in the future and you need to know this, and the other BT Sport Terms and Conditions.

You should have had an email with a date that would be linked to the delivery of the new box you ordered - so yes you ought to be getting it by now. Check your online BT account details. Channel 408 for BT Sport 1.

You're both right. Turns out I did have to order them seperately which I did and last night I finally got my BT Sports channels so problem solved now!
