What do you think are the oddest songs released by big stars?

You don't get many big names nowadays releasing songs that are considered odd.

To start off Il go with David bowies laughing gnome.

I think the Beatles Revolution Number 9 takes a bit of beating .

Madonna - Dear Jessie (but it was odd in a good way. I love it. It was unlike any Madonna song before or since). It reminds me of a lullaby

Celine Dion - Treat Her Like A Lady

I liked it at the time (1999) but remembering it, I think I'd have second hand embarrassment if I listened to it now.

What credibility? A few well-received singles don't make the Sugababes cool or credible. I guess they're slightly cooler than some of the other girl bands, but that's not exactly hard considering most of them are awful. They're hardly critical darlings whose music has changed the pop landscape.

How are these songs odd? Get Sexy is a lame urban-lite pop song that's been done a million times before, and Start Without You is your typical Alexandra Burke song that sounds like budget Rihanna.

How is it odd? It's very much of its time.

Some people on here have a very limited taste in music. The same people use the same examples for an answer to everything. If it's not Britney Spears, it's Miley Cyrus or Madonna or Cheryl Cole or Mariah Carey. Yawn!

Bowie wasn't a big star until Space Oddity. The Laughing Gnome was released about 2-3 years earlier when he was virually unknown.

Pink Floyd relased many odd songs in the early years such as this gem.

Although, it was re-released some years after he became famous.

I think Chuck Berry's "My Ding-a-Ling" takes some beating (oo-er).

I love this song. It's so pretty. I was quite surprised to find out that Dear Jessie actually sold more copies in the UK than both Express Yourself and Cherish!

Wow, I didn't know that either. The curious Christmas period when people went out in their droves to buy singles/albums for christmas presents.

What were the total sales for Dear Jessie, compared to Express Yourself and Cherish?

I'm not sure on the sales themselves, but a list of her best selling singles is here... http://www.officialcharts.com/chart-...singles__8266/

Dear Jessie is at 28, with Cherish and Express Yourself at 33 and 35. I seem to recall Dear Jessie selling around 300k. Surprising considering it's rarely classed as a particularly big hit.
