iphone calls and texts on other devices.
My phone is a iphone 6 with ios9, i want to get text (not imessage) and call forwarding to my ipad2 and iphone4s.
In the settings on the 6, call and text forwarding are both turned on and have the ipad and 4s listed. Text forwarding works and my texts appear on both the ipad and 4s. I can reply to my messages on the ipad but not on the 4s. (I have tried combinations of having a sim/no sim in the 4s). Calls dont seem to forward to either device. So how do I get the ability to reply to texts on the 4s, and how do I get calls to forward to both devices. Many thanks |

You need to get your terminology right, or it's going to get even more confusing.
"Call Forwarding" is a network option, where calls are routed from one mobile number to another. Do you really mean that? I think you are discussing Continuity: https://support.apple.com/en-gb/HT204681 This works with devices with the same AppleID and on the same WiFi network. Don't use the term iMessage as that is irrelevant. You use the Messaging app regardless. All devices must be iOS 8.1 or above. |

Turn Calls on Other Devices on in the Phone Settings section. That will then allow the calls to go through to other Apple products signed into your iCloud account.

Apologise for using the incorrect terms.
I confirm that all devices are running ios9 and are logged in on the same appleID/iCloud account, on the same wifi and have Bluetooth enabled. The 'calls on other devices' and 'texts on other devices' are both switched on (iPhone6) and the 4S and iPad are both listed and switched on in both opinions. The texts appear on both the 4S and the iPad, I can reply and compose new messages on the iPad but not on the 4S. Calls just ring on the 6, and if I try and start a call on the iPad or 4S nothing happens. I assume I need the 4S to behave completely as a iPod touch would behave, is this possible? Amy ideas on how to get the 'calls on other' devices to work. As far as I can tell I have completed all steps in the Apple support thread. |

I'm not sure if it matters but if you have dual band WiFi, it might be that the 6 is 5Ghz and the 4s can only do 2.4Ghz. The phones may see this as being on different WiFi networks (albeit the same name).
Just an idea. |

Yeah may need to keep turning 'call to other devices' on and off on the 4S until it works:
Turn the feature off Turn phone off/on Turn the feature on Test Turn phone off/on Etc. |

Think Calls on Other Devices only works for more recent models. See this Apple Support page.
Looks like you would need an iPhone 5 or later and an iPad 4 or later to use continuity (including Calls on Other Devices). |
