Completely staged this series!

With his earpiece hanging out of his ear, Gary is prompted to shout obcenities to his rent-a-day reality characters!

Everyting is so scripted...cue Gary & Novelli!!

I made a comment on another thread on whether Novelli can actually speak English properly now & unfortunately he still can't, the look on the faces of his team trying so hard to grasp what the hell he's saying was hilarious though! No wonder they can do the job better because Novelli rather than speaking was actually demonstrating how it's done.

This is no Hell's Kitchen, this is a very poor imitation of Masterchef Goes Large (BBC2) which was far far more superior than this contrived show.

Totally agree with you. My hubby (after watching something else upstairs) had a quick two-second glance at the screen and said, "who's he trying to be... Ramsay?"

No he's being himself. If you cant see the difference between Rhodes and Ramsey then you're pretty stupid.

Unless you know Gary Rhodes personally you can't claim "he's being himself". Based on what I've seen of Rhodes on his many tv shows he always came across too sickly nice (boring in other words) & far too clinical with his cooking style ( double boring). Which means that Rhodes to suddenly become a Jekyll & Hyde on this show is both laughable & pathetic on equal measure.

Sorry but this new series for me is totally fake inc the rent-a-day reality contestants. That guy Simon ( someone provided his website & shows he's a jobbing actor) is one example, waiter indeed!!!

PS - pls don't make personal insults to FMs, it's against the T & C of DS or didn't you know that?

Yeah..the stuff i've seen so far appears a little too staged ..anything i've ever seen of Gary Rhodes he seemed to come across as an okay and fair..and as for that Jean dude..

Claptrap. My taekwon-do instructor comes across as being charming and nice, but when he gets angry in class it's a different person. Never judge a book by its cover.

This should be coming out of the drama department and not the factual entertainment one - they've gone totally US on this series thus allowing scripting for the chefs and producing the action from the gallery as it happens. However, it lost 3 million viewers last night so I guess they know the audience is judging with their feet.
