In supermarkets like Tesco or Asda it takes about a second after someone enters the pin for the transaction to go through.
Why would you want to take out your phone to make a payment, what a load of garbage. Also, with the iris scanner, people are assuming that authentication will be needed as the payment is being made. I'm sure if they launched Windows Pay they'll come up with something like a system to glance at the screen to pre-authorise the payment for a fixed time (2 mins?) so that you can then pay with the phone without having to do anything around the terminal itself. |

Sorry, you are talking nonsense, I've seen many people use ApplePay and it's far quicker than chip and pin.
Anyone trying to say that taking out your wallet, getting the card out, inserting it in the machine, waiting for the prompt, entering the pin, waiting for the approved prompt, removing the card, reinserting into the wallet and putting the wallet away is quicker than double clicking the home button and holding the phone above the reader for a second is deluded. Try and stick to reality. If you're so worked up about spending a extra 2-3 seconds at a checkout. Doesn't it say more about people like you and society today than technology. Also stop putting card user in the same boat. I and others have there card ready. Also how do you expect the likes of my parents etc to pay for things, they wouldn't know the first thing about smartphones. If you like and use you're phone to pay, great for you, but that doesn't mean just because a phone doesn't have this facility means it's rubbish. |

I actually really like the look of the 950 XL. Seriously considering it, but I do have considerations. I'm on Three and don't want to change network, and I have a Note 3, I work in a couple of places with no cell network so Three in Touch is a life saver for me - but I don't think it works on Windows Phone. Does it support wifi calling? My work pc has Windows 7, so I use Pushbullet to push notifications to my pc while working, and I don't want to lose that functionality - particularly ability to send/receive sms on my desktop. I would also like to retain WhatsApp Web, I'm not sure if WhatsApp on WP has this functionality. I run my business schedule via Google Calendar (which I share with my colleagues) and can synch this with the Windows Calendar on my Surface Pro 3, but can't enter new appointments to my Google Calendar via the Windows Calendar app - on a phone, I don't really want to have to navigate to the Google Calendar via a browser every time, if there are good alternatives please let me know
Otherwise, I already have a SP3 and a Surface 3, so fairly happy with Windows 10.

Have you ever used anything but chip and pin? Quote:

Aren't these post about Apple pay versus card actually about something else.

I probably use chip and pin more than I use ApplePay, my post is an answer to a post that was trying to state that using ApplePay was slower than chip and pin which was clearly the statement of an ignorant person who had no actual experience of using it and not a criticism of people using chip and pin (which would be ridiculous). It was a criticism of the idiotic trolling carried out by one person making stupid statements. |

Android Pay (when we get it) and the other ways of paying by your phone are certainly nice to have and very conveinient. The problem is that until they become as universal as chip and pin then we can't leave our wallets at home. And if we can't do that then I may as well stik to using my bank card - it does contactless and chip and pin.

I'll probably stick to using my banks preferred method, use their card. Rather than have everything going through an intermediary that I don't trust quite as much. |

I've been using Windows Phones for years and if I'm going to spend money again, I don't want its compromises anymore so I will purchase an iPhone next.
My Windows Phone device history includes: HTC HD7, Lumia 800, Lumia 920 and Lumia 930. I will suffer with the 930 for one more year and then switch to the iPhone 7 unless Lumia manage to get the apps using things like Astoria and even then I may switch anyway. |

I think we're going to see a lot more Microsoft apps and services coming to Android and iOS, and Windows phones will start to go back to where Windows Mobile was. Sort of history repeating itself.
It is a nice OS, always has been, but the app eco system just isn't there and you don't need a Windows phone to use Windows. If BlackBerry switches to Android, as it almost certainly will, then it shows it's possible for Microsoft to consider that previously unthinkable option too. Or, go with both and give people more choice. |

I couldn't wait when the time was due to replace my Lumia 920 in July. Had to go with an android device as 8.1 didn't support PPTP protocols for VPNs.
I only go mid-range so chose the Honor 6 plus. Overall i'm happy with the phone and apps but the camera apps, even the one i paid for, aren't a patch on the Lumia Pro one. Now if that came to Android i'd happily install it. |
