I have a Humax HDR-1000S. I set the series link for recording 'Midwinter of The Spirit' on ITV HD.

It recorded the first two episodes but didn't record the third. I have only just noticed and it has never done this before as far as I am aware.

Is this box known for missing recordings?

Luckily, I can get the missing episode on the internet. On demand is no good as I have not yet watched the other episodes.

I have just noticed that it also missed a scheduled (series link) for Coronation street on the same evening.

I am not aware of any reason this would have happened. The episode tonight recorded as normal.

I have also noticed something new despite the last firmware update being some time ago.

I am now seeing dates included on recordings. Until today, this has never happened.
Something weird is happening to my box. Perhaps it is alive?????

Date are normally shown but sometimes replaced by Yesterday etc.

The recording of a servies depends on the broadcaster correctly labelling the programme and series IDs (called CRID). Sometimes they slip up.

There have definitely been no dates on recordings or the word 'yesterday' until recently. I often moan about the lack of info. When I first got the box I had no idea which episode in a series was the latest. Sky has the oldest one at the top. This box had the oldest one at the bottom.

I have a HDR1000S which was set to record Midwinter Of The Spirit and Coronation St. (In both cases in HD).

All 3 episodes recorded OK (I haven't watched them yet). No episodes of Corrie have been lost either.

Strange why it happened to me. I can think of no reason for it happening.
I don't think anybody used the box that evening at all as I was watching recordings off my motorised sat system.

The newer Humax models don't appear to have a sort facility and all recordings in the A-Z listing (series or not) are listed alphabetically. Within a series file where episodes are listed by number (i.e. Episode 1) these will be listed downwards numerically (i.e. from oldest down to latest) but where they are listed by an episode's name these will be from latest down to oldest. The option to view a recording from a specified list (A-Z, Most recent, Still to watch, HD) is superior to the older models such as the Humax Foxsat HDR where all recordings are shown in one list according to a default setting. You have the choice between 'Alphabetic', 'Channel Number' and 'Time'. If the default is set to 'Alphabetic' the series files and individual recordings will be listed alphabetically however the recordings within the series files will be listed from oldest down to latest. Choosing 'Time' as the default series files will be listed alphabetically but the recordings within them and individual recordings will now be listed downwards from latest down to oldest.
All these fancy sorting options do not make up for the frustration when an episode of a series recording doesn't happen. I also had this recently with Cradle to Grave (BBC2) (episode 5) and Doc Martin (ITVHD) twice (episodes 3 & 5). Incidentally, due to the WRC Doc Martin seems to have disappeared off the schedules and returns 19 October.

Which ITV region are you recording ---- i.e where are you? Mine (on Meridian HD) recorded OK on a Foxsat-HDR. Graham's on Central iirc... also OK.

But it may have been a local problem somewhere? (e.g. BBC can mess up in the Nations as the playouts are different for BBC 1)

Can't really help there. Incidentally re the sort order of recordings in the media list. The order is inconsistent. If the broadcaster includes a episode number the lowest appears at the top of the list irrespective of the time and date. This gets superconfusing when the broadcaster changes the episode number sequence back to 1 after a long run or omits an episode number for a few episodes. Without episode numbers the list order is reversed oldest at the bottom, newest at the top. Some synopses but not all include the info like Episode 2 of 4 which can help.

Midwinter Of The Spirit has episode numbers so is listed Episode 1 at the top with Episode 3 at the bottom.

Corrie does not so you can assume lowest is earliest (this works also when there are two on the same day).

Frankly it's a mess added to by the lack of recording start info in the synopses.

What was wrong with the Foxsat option of latest at the top of the list I have no idea.

Dr Oliver is correct ITV 1 HD Central West

This is happening to me as well with my 1000s. I'm in the London region (i assume).

It missed the Gadget Show tonight and has missed a couple of one-off recordings i've set as well.

Weird thing is, i've done a factory reset and i'm re-adding my series links and i'm getting bizarre dates and times showing up on the planned list.

I re-added Celebrity Juice on ITV2 this Thursday at 11pm, and the planned recording list is showing as Saturday the 17th at 11pm instead.

Same with The Gadget Show - I skipped forward to next Monday to re-add the recording and it's showing the next episode on Saturday the 18th at 1:10am

I just noticed that the series link for Coronation street for tonight was not there, but it is there for Friday's episode.

I did check all the planned recordings after my original problem and they were all there, so I don't know why some are mysteriously vanishing.

Something is very wrong with this box.

It's there on mine. I would make a note of your recording schedule (you will need to rebuild it - photograph with digital camera), and carry out a reset to factory defaults.

Yes, I probably will.

I will monitor it for a few more days and see if it happens again. If it does, then I will do the factory reset.
