RIP Jim

Such sad news, Jim was a great musician who I'd rediscovered only a few months ago after watching some old Top Of The Pops videos on YouTube. I heard I Won't Let You Down by Ph.D for the first time and really liked the song.

Surprised this isnt bigger news.

Love on the Rocks was my mother's favourite song. I was sick of it personally.

I remember Jim Diamond from the early 80s. The guy had a distinctive voice but the music was a little too mainstream for me. He was a bit like fellow Scots Gallagher and Lyle, Diamond worked with Graham Lyle. There is a tradition of MOR rock pop in Scotland ( Gerry Rafferty, Hue and Cry, Deacon Blue etc.) much of it is fine.

I remember 'Hi Ho Silver' was used as the theme from Boon in the 90s.

More akin to Gerry Rafferty. They even had similar voices, although he was a consistently great songwriter.

Sorry to hear of Jim Diamond's passing. The PhD song, I Won't Let You Down was one of the outstanding songs of the 80s. It immediately stood out the first time I heard it, just like GR's Baker Street.
