Been watching some of it back and it's not that bad. Some good housemates like Chanelle, Charley, Brian and Samanda and the tasks are quite good. The launch night twist isn't well executed and Carole is insufferable. But I think its underrated in it's defence. What are peoples opinions on it?

Carole ruined it for me she sucked all the drama and fun out the place .

Also starting on all females was a bad idea just men to start with would have worked

I really enjoyed it but mainly just because of Sam and Amanda, who were really fun to watch and my favourite housemates ever. I nearly gave up early on - it was a messy start - but they hooked me back in.

Despite Carole and the clashes between Charley and Channelle, I remember it being one of the more fun and positive series, particularly towards the end when the atmosphere just seemed completely different to most years. Despite it being a long series it seemed like most of them enjoyed being there.

I think that was the year where they had a night making deals with BB to swap food for music and stuff which was great

It never recovered after the appalling all female start imo.

As a series it was well below par, but not the worst. What I did like about it though was that it wasn't nasty - sure people like Charley were argumentative but she wasn't a bad person and there was more to the show than rows. Unlike the Channel 5 series...

Brilliant compared to more recent series.

I think it didn't help following on from the "Golden Three" and especially as it was after The Shilpa saga, I think there was a lot of pressure on it to succeed. I really liked the fake week twist. That was really well done.

Agree in hindsight now compared to some of the CH5 series it wasn't entirely awful though that Carole certainly was!

Yeah...Like the fake romance between Chanelle and Ziggy.

I didn't like the all girl start but it got better after the guys started rolling in. The halfway house was pointless because they manipulated who was going to be there and up for eviction.

Halfway housemate Shanessa wins the box task and as a prize was able to swap with Liam and enter the main house and become a full housemate. Only to be swapped back by another twist 2 days later because BB didn't like who was in the halfway house and automatically up for eviction. I didn't like the halfway house and it was obvious that BB would manipulate who was in it and up for eviction to save show favourites.

Apart from that I did like the phone hook up with BBAU and Brian got to talk to Aleisha and she was blown away because he new who she was as he had watched BBAU before going into the BBUK house. They both wished each other good luck and Aleisha wins BBAU then Brian wins BBUK.

I think that with BB8, Lightning didn't strike twice. BB7 was the first year where there were lots of twists, a revolving door of housemates and a 'making it up as they go' vibe in regards to twists. But they managed to get away with it - probably because of the popularity of the housemates.

But it didn't happen with BB8 - the revolving door of housemates meany that people like Shanessa, David etc were completely disposable. Also the twists such as the HWH seemed like a lazy HND.

I think that BB8 highlights how lucky BB7 was to get away with the things that it did and the viewing figures not be affected.

There were lots of issues with the series IMO

The All Female Start didn't work

Tracey and Carole (and Charley too) all stayed way way way too long at the expense of other more interesting HMs.

Emily's removal was a knee jerk reaction to the race row which I guess is understandable, but handled badly IMO.

The producers did everything to keep Charley in including the fake eviction, removing noms after people had nominated to save her etc. Again badly handled.

Lesley walking was a low point especially at the hands of the cretin Seany.

However by the same token Seany going was a blow for the series too as IMO - tbh all the HMs who could've made the show interesting in the long run (Emily, Shabnam, Billi, Seany, Lesley - even Laura as she disliked Ziggy/ Chanelle/ Carole) all left in one way or another.

The Halfway HMs twist was poorly done as it didn't shake up the HMs at all. There are just so many things that went wrong throughout the series - it was awful, but too much interference spoiled the series for me

BB8 overdid the introduction of new HM, but the revolving door of housemates and a 'making it up as they go' vibe in regards to twists -- if it's supposed to be true of bb7 -- began instead with bb6.

Re the "popularity" of bb7 HMs, only a few of them were popular, and almost all of those were detested by quite a few people too.

That seems to be the usual view, but I suspect the only reason it wasn't popular was a bias against female HMs.

In any case, the all-female start was one of the ways in which bb8 was the most innovative UK BB series there's ever been.
