TerryM22 are you watching !!!! This Cha Cha Cha shows off Anton's amazing dancing talent to a T.

He is seriously jeapodising Katie's chances with his inept choreography and dancing when preforming Latin

Who picks the music? I don't think the song helped either.

Compared to the other male professionals Anton is rather restrained in his choreography. I feel sorry for Katie.

Part of the issue is Anton is used to making the dances all about himself as he normally has a partner that has two left feet. Now he has a partner who is very capable and he has to raise his game, no more showy gimmicks or cheesy running around playing the buffoon as he did in the beginning, he doesn't need to do that.

Deserved lower scores to be honest, I think the judges were kind because they felt Katie did the best she could with such a terrible routine.

well yes. i thought this because anton more or less said it. in his oh so gracious willingness to take the rap for the lack of content, he made it very clear that he pitched it where he thought she was at. he blamed her.

i don't buy it personally. of course she's not a pro, nor even one of the best dancers this year, but she has all the necessary components to do well and he is as ever all about himself.

What do others think?”

I don't think Anton can choreograph Latin. He had a good partner with Laila Roussos, but he didn't show her off either. Perhaps he should get a Latin choreographer in.

It might not have been the dance of the night but it was quite easy to distinguish which dance it was and which film it came from. Natalie on the other hand made Ainsley into a performing penguin doing God only knows what as it certainly wasn't a Cha Cha Cha.

Anton is going to be shown up this year.

I think Anton needs help with the latin choreography - He and Katie will do some awesome ballroom routines

It was duff. Could he have given her more to do? Undoubtedly. Could she have done it? Probably. Was he playing it safe? I imagine so. He choreographed a pretty charming cha cha for Fiona two years ago and she proceeded to step off on the wrong foot as often as the right one.
Katie certainly had no hips, even a rube like me could see that.
I don't think it was the worst dance in Strictly history but I do think they'll be in serious trouble and couldn't complain if they went.
Also I don't think it should be underestimated how much the first two dances will count against them compared to this given expectations, especially when many less favoured contestants have done better than expected.

I think Anton's too old sadly... It was actually kind of hard to know whether he or Katie was the dance professional especially at the end when Anton was puffing and sweating and basically looked like he could have a heart attack at any moment... While Katie barely broke a sweat.

This really, really should be Anton's last year.

Anton was on autopilot. That routine was pure Jerry Hall a few years ago. He's got to get a consultation from other latin pros he can trust for this. Even if it means Anton learns almost as much as Katie.

He put more effort into that speech than he did into that "choreography". Anybody who can dance like Katie did in her first two dances can do much better cha cha than that even if it were far from perfect.

Len's a bit funny - we know that from his past feuds. However, I think it was Giovanni's head-shaking that did it - especially as he's a new boy (and should therefore be a bit more deferential).

I'm just watching it now and was really rather shocked by how bad Anton was. I know he is a very talented ballroom dancer but his latin is a joke. It's embarrassing and I am no expert! He let Katie down.

I'm reserving judgement until I hear from them on ITT. Something went badly wrong - perhaps they had an idea about how to do it that just didn't come off on the night? Katie seemed ok-ish in the training vids.

This +++

We don't always know what goes on during the week - it may not be "Katie's dance", she may have been feeling unwell, she may have hurt herself - lots of reasons that perhaps the celebrity doesn't want to publicise. At least Anton had the decency to take the blame.

That said, his Latin choreography for this show is not always the greatest but for his tour shows is brilliant although he may have some extra help. However, the producers don't always support the dancers by giving them awful music and/or themes. Actually wish they would stop that.

I think we should just accept that, for whatever reason, this was not their finest week.

Anton's latin choreography has always been lacking. However, I think people have overestimated Katie's dance ability. She's not as good as people think she is. Maybe it's because she's partnered with Anton and isn't as bad as some of his previous partners, that she's been overrated. Regarding the female celebs, I would say that Helen, Kellie, Anita and Georgia are all superior dancers. Out the males- obviously Jay and Peter.

Anton doesn't choreograph good Latin routines, because he can't. He has always disliked the Latin, and has no respect for it, and basically, can't be bothered with it.

At the very least, given the years he has been in Strictly, he should have made some effort to improve, not just how to choreograph Latin, but also how to dance it. His total lack of technique is a disgrace. There's nothing to stop him getting outside teachers to help, but as far as I am aware, he has never bothered.

He really should have packed the routine out with more basic Cha Cha steps - even if there was nothing fancy in the routine it would had given the illusion to the untrained eye there was more going on.

I don't think the music leant itself very well to Cha Cha Cha either but you could probably just about make it work.

The plus side if they get through to next week is that its out of the way, they've already done Jive, so lots of ballroom and artsy latin left (if they can avoid Samba\Salsa).

i don#'t think he did take the blame, i thought he rather sneakily implied that he choreographed to her ability, thereby taking the blame by suggesting she was a duffer, which she clearly isn't.

I would be the first to admit that Anton is not the best one to choreograph a Latin routine, but that dance was awful, it didn't resemble a cha cha in any way, l couldn't believe what I was looking at. I think that Katie wasn't able to master the steps, straight legs , hips, and Anton tried to cover up by having her pose and walk about. The little bit of cha cha it contained she was not able to do, one of the worst dances of the night imo.

Exactly. That's why I did not believe a single word he said. One can still dance a cha cha even if it isn't exactly what judges want. Anton didn't bother.

It was definitely bizarre , and I'm an Anton fan .
Not making excuses here , but seriously , wardrobe last night did a shit job. From dopey dogs, stupid penguins, multi layered pirate outfits right through to Anton in a three piece suit to dance a fast paced latin dance ! Surely it should be shirt and trews for that style, the super casual look . Katie looked stunning and perfect for the dance----Anton looked her polar opposite in a sedate ballroom style suit .It was just weird . To be honest Katie looked off dance-wise. Something was going on with her but I can't put my finger on it .Like lovers who'd had a tiff but were putting on a front at an event while seething inside . Maybe they had a spat in training and she pulled back from him and refused to cooperate .
Anyway , clothing aside it was murder on the dance floor and when he watches it back he will be mortified for sure . I predict something extra special from them next week to make up for that mess .
