It is not what you know, but who you know.

He has friends in high places.

I don't see anyone complaining about Anita and Gleb?

Week One: 6/6
Week Two: 11/15
Week Three: 13/14

compared to Peter and Janette:

Week One: 9/9
Week Two: 14/15
Week Three: 10/14

Good point. I also wonder if people would be so vocal if Jay and Aliona occupied the same positions or if they tend towards them in the future. Let's see

It takes 4.5 hours to put on all his make up and another 3 to go through 467 rituals he needs to access his inner dancer and prepare his soul for the performance.

Sadly none of this seems to be working, but he can't be told

This has been discussed many times over. When running a program like strictly, you need impactful dances for the last bit, not saying that they are the best dances, because they often aren't, just that they are impactful.
Whether we like it or not, Pete has name recognition above most celebs on this years strictly (not saying that he deserves it or not, just stating what I believe to be the case). Plus it looks like he can put a show even if his dancing isn't perfect. Besides he has had three crowd pleasing dances in a row as has Anita.
I believe that Anita's and Pete's treatment is fairly similar so, they both aren't the best dancers but obviously have the performance chops and nerves of steel that suit for big finales.

Same reason he is last on the opening credits, in the middle of the group promo shots, he's this years big star and household name and (maybe?) put on at the end ti stop you turning over to the X Factor.

I presumed it was the BBC trying to hang onto the ITV audience Peter brings for as long as possible as I'm sure a large percentage of his million+ following don't usually watch.

Because it takes that long for his extra layers of fake tan to dry.

Whoever the producers think most people will look forward to seeing on the show they will put on last, simply because if your main reason for tuning in is to see how Peter Andre will fare on Strictly, you are quite likely to switch over once he has danced.

After the impact that Jay's jive had last week, I would be majorly surprised if he wasn't on last, as most people will be curious how he will follow on from that. Of course, there is a small chance that he is terrible at the quickstep, and if that transpires he probably won't close the show, but regardless, he will be on towards the end.

Then again, certain quarters would probably loudly complain if Peter opened the show, too.

If he does the detractors will still complain.

Last night I barked with laughter reading Johnfromwales' blog from 2010-2012 (IIRC) and it got me wondering when exactly the pimpslot got to be so obvious? Was it with the arrival of Louise Rainbow?

Genuine question.

Since Louise Rainbow took over, the pimp slot has gone to such classic dances as Deborah Meaden's Quickstep, Patrick Robinson's Viennese Waltz, Mark Wright's Paso Doble and Steve Backshall's Paso Doble. I don't think her taking over has made much of a difference if I'm honest.

Jay won't go last this week, he was last last week. My cynical brain is saying he will go somewhere in the middle and will be criticised & underscored to calm the hysteria.

The opening dance is usually good, not brilliant, and is the one they use to mark all others by, so I think Peter could go first this week and the 2nd to last dance is usually a really good if a little underwhelming choice and the the final dance is usually the showstopper. It may not be the best dance of the night, it could be the funniest as they have to spread final dances around, but it will usually be upbeat.

Thanks. I can never remember what went last. Give me two weeks and I'll have forgotten that Jay's jive got that honour.

SHHHHH! Don't you go bringing your facts into this.

I think saying Peter was near the end of last week's show is grasping a bit for something to complain about, tbh.
