Jays jive was absolutely fantastic and I thought to a pro standard. He seems a genuinely nice bloke too.

I absolutely loved Jay's jive. He is such a sweetie and genuinely does not realise how good he is. I know some people have said that is an act but I am positive it is not or else he is a brilliant actor.
Unlike the "I'm so wonderful" Kellie. She can dance and boy does she know it and want the world to know it. |

It was very, very good. 8/9 probably not 10.
Unless he kind of burns out, it's hard to see how Jay and Aliona won't win this season... I'm certainly looking forward to these two doing an Argentine Tango. ![]() |

The way they transitioned from "You never can tell" to "Misirlou" and just amped up the performance ten-fold was exceptionally well done.
Musical changes mid-performance can be very difficult to pull off but this worked wonderfully.... Just goes to show how criminally underused Aliona has been over the past few seasons. She's one smart cookie. |

The jive was fantastic but he won't ever get my votes as I much prefer to see a"journey" by someone with little or no dance experience. I'd love to see Anita lift the glitter ball.

She's one smart cookie. I'd bet the producers are glad they kept her now. Admittedly it's easier to choreograph for someone with ability, but it was the tone of the dance I loved. It was the only performance that had any true relationship to the film it was representing. |

WOW that was amazing. One of the best dance routines I have seen on SCD in ages - loved it. What a pairing, can't wait til next week.

Aliona really is an excellent teacher. Thing is she's a very quiet pro, not in your face, so when she gets paired with a duffer they need to be super popular to get anywhere. I think Aliona always teaches them well and choreographs to their strengths, but a duffer only gets further if they win the nations hearts (like Jeremy) or create an engaging partnership (like Kristina and John or Anton and Judy). Because Aliona isn't as outgoing it's more difficult to create that "woo look at us were having the best time ever" vibe that Natalie always captures with her duffers. I think she actually teaches all her celebs really well, but as we all know, the partnership has to be engaging and with a duffer it's all about the faffing choreography, big smiles and comedy, which isnt I don't think Alionas style. |

I don't think the pros choose their songs for the most part. Aliona has been VERY lucky in terms of her partners overall.
Natalie in comparison (who joined with Aliona) has had 2 contenders (Ricky and Scott) a few middlings and a couple of duffers. I don't see that Alionas been particularly favoured. Not like Pasha or Kevin. Prior to this year her and Natalie were pretty even. In fact Alionas contender percentage was lower due to Natalie missing a year altogether. Natalie is Deffo due a contender next year, but this year, her and Aliona were on equal footing. |

She's one smart cookie. And what was that odd thing he was doing with his free arm/hand? I think there were many weak spots and that the judges should have made some criticism rather than gushing as it if was the best dance ever. Only Len's comment that it was the best dance so far this series was reasonable, though I'm not sure it's true. I've watched it again, and it was worse than I though when I watched it originally. I still think reasonable marks would have been three 8s and one 9, though. Quote:
Yes it was phenomenal choreography and characterisation. They nailed it. ...

I think anyone who has seen the sequence in Pulp Fiction, would have appreciated the characterisation.
The segue between the two musical numbers was excellent. |

Aliona's choreography is always phenomenal. I'm excited to see their future dances. I wish we could have Jazz or Contemporary dance in SCD. Ditch Rumba for Jazz.

I only ever half watch SCD but whenever Jay starts to dance I am glued to the screen. I really like the way he moves.
