Part of me thinks it was totally strategic putting Jay and Aliona on last. Is it purely coincidence they supposedly left the "best till' last"?
I wonder if he's the producers favourite? The studio went completely OTT. Not saying he was bad because he was very very good, but not THAT good. Certainly not worthy of a 10, in week 3. In my opinion. My faves in Movie Week: Kellie & Kevin, Daniel & Kristina, Anita & Gleb, and Helen & Aljaz. Was it actually that good and worth a 10 so early in the series? |

No - it was good, but not THAT good, and certainly not better than Travolta.

I've watched Strictly for years, I'm not fanciful person, takes a lot to wow me.
All that said, I find Jay mesmerising when he dances, I've been entranced every week and last night was no exception, he was brilliant and deserved all tens imo! |

It was a fantastic jive.
Should have got 38 points as I feel Darcy wanted to award a 10 but she felt she couldn't do it in week 3 |

I think it's obvious by now that Jay is a very good technician, which you would expect given his years of dance training. For me though he has so little personality on show that he comes across as robotic. Yes he can dance but he doesn't sell the dance to me and I much prefer watching other less technically competent celebs who show their obvious enjoyment and enthusiasm.

Fantastic routine performed brilliantly. I doubt it's a flash in the pan, because he's got the best teacher/choreographer (and dancer) as a partner. Aliona will extract the very best out of him, time after time.

They were pretty damn good, to be honest
Strange that we had a similar discussion last week regarding Peter Andre supposedly getting what some want to call "the pimp slot" |

It's like some people don't understand even the basics of how producers put together a successful Saturday night family entertainment show!!

Just got up and had a little look at YouTube views. Kellie, Peter and Anita all around 3000 views as is around average for 1 st night viewings. Jay and Aliona is close 60k.
The Facebook post (for being top of the leaderboard) has nearly 1 million views. Clearly people are absolutely blown away by it. By comparison Peters QS Video posted last week for being top has 132k views. |

It was good, but then it should have been.
Whether he will lift the title is another thing. Upto the public, and his previous training might count against him. I want him to win it,so that will probably doom the guy

THANK YOU. I really don't want this series to be ruined so early with a potentially very blatant favourite/winner.

Just rewatched the iconic scene from Pulp Fiction as one or two people are comparing Jay to JT which I feel is abit unfair
I thought JT did mostly 'twisting' on the spot and we see more of his upper body movement whereas Aliona choreographed Jay to use the floor space far more. However JT was so cool in that scene

I've been waiting to see a Jive like that since Strictly began; Laid back and louche, no gurning ( I hate that about SCD jives )
Others have tried it - Tom Chambers comes to mind - but the laid-back 'feel' that I like wasn't matched by technical ability or brilliant choreography. Jay & Aliona's was. I have to agree with Bruno and say that was the best dance EVER on Strictly. If I was a judge I would have found my '1' paddle ( do they have a '1' paddle? ) and written another '1' next to it with a marker pen.

I do not think some of the pro dancers could have matched him if they danced that routine.

Actually they were a joy to watch. Brilliant and deserved the ten. However, some magic for me disappeared as to me it was like watching two professionals. Don't get me wrong, I like Jay and Aliona a lot.

I thought they were amazing. Best dance of the night by a mile, best dance of the series so far and one of the best dances ever on Strictly. And arguably the coolest jive ever on the show. Incredible.

Utterly brilliant. No complaints about the 10 even this early. At the moment it's between him and Helen for me as she's showing that she's improving and learning from an already great starting standard. Hoping to see the pair of them in the final.

I also said I enjoyed watching them but it wasn't as full of magic for me as it was for you. The reason for me was because it was predictable that Jay was going to be brilliant. So there we have it. BTW I enjoyed watching Kellie too but she too was predictably great. She didn't bring anything new for me. |
