More ridiculous than Louisa's 10 in week 3 for her jive? ( which was, I believe, actually only her second dance as that was when they split male and female for the first few weeks)

I've watched Strictly for years, I'm not fanciful person, takes a lot to wow me.
All that said, I find Jay mesmerising when he dances, I've been entranced every week and last night was no exception, he was brilliant and deserved all tens imo!

Where did I say it was a bad thing
![]() Don't misquote me. For me it lost some magic but good it didn't for you. I also said I enjoyed watching them but it wasn't as full of magic for me as it was for you. The reason for me was because it was predictable that Jay was going to be brilliant. So there we have it. BTW I enjoyed watching Kellie too but she too was predictably great. She didn't bring anything new for me. ![]() I don't think anyone could have predicted that even Jay was going to be quite that good though. He'd been great in the previous two weeks but a little bit 'sterile' imo ( probably due to nerves ). This dance was a revelation, confidence wise. As for Kellie & Kevin, their dance was a disappointment to me. After seeing some training clips I really thought that was going to be the Wow Dance of the evening. I thought their Cha Cha last week was better. |

Part of me thinks it was totally strategic putting Jay and Aliona on last. Is it purely coincidence they supposedly left the "best till' last"?
I wonder if he's the producers favourite? The studio went completely OTT. Not saying he was bad because he was very very good, but not THAT good. Certainly not worthy of a 10, in week 3. In my opinion. My faves in Movie Week: Kellie & Kevin, Daniel & Kristina, Anita & Gleb, and Helen & Aljaz. Was it actually that good and worth a 10 so early in the series? |

Well I thought it was fabulous .
I thought Kellie and Kevin , Anita and Gleb and Peter Andre were very good but Jay and Aliona were on another level last night and that dance deserved a 10. |

I agree. I never get a chance to watch clips from 'It takes two' so for me what is I see is on the night.

It was good, it was worth a 10, but I don' think it was the best dance EVER. i.e. better than all previous dances in all previous series. I think the judges got a bit over excited.
In my totally amateur opinion, the dance steps were great, but some of the John Travolta moves weren't as crisp as they should have been. Certainly the best dance of the series so far, but EVER, I don't think so. |

I thought it was amazing at the start with perfect synchronicity, but I kept waiting for some dancing in hold. The last 3 seconds were the only bit. That's what disappointed me about it. The synchronicity should have been a feature that made you think WOW! But the whole dance side by side like that despite the great timing meant it lacked something for me.

Sorry but i don't get this nonsense about "being given a 10 so early in the series".
If a sprinter breaks the 100 meter record in the heats does that not stand as a world record because it was in a heat ? Of course it stands .... Regards |

When you put it like that yes, Kellie has a lot of work to do. You're good at picking out the fine details, I wish I could.

And the producers would have been aware of that and balance the running order accordingly, so that the show finishes on a high.
Strange that we had a similar discussion last week regarding Peter Andre supposedly getting what some want to call "the pimp slot" |

And they always save the headline acts till nearer the end, Peter both weeks on last/second last, Helen last week 2, Anita near then end weeks 2 and 3. If they put all the good ones on at the start some people would switch off. |

Beautifully choreographed, great characterisation (even if it was luck that it suited Jay's blank expression) and fabulously performed.

i think he IS that good, but as ever with strictly, its not necessarily enough. he is technically very skilled, but there's a somewhat sterile quality to a lot of his movement.
tonight i felt i saw glimmers of something more connected, more earthy, and if he can build on that and engage the audience through showmanship as well as talent, then he's a cert for the win. I find Jay, quite frankly, boring. Technically he is very good and his timing was sublime in the jive but I just don't feel it. The dance was excellent but left me cold. I preferred Jeremy's performance tbh |

I think Darcey wanted to give it 10, too. That's how I understand her saying that since it is a round three, it's a nine.

It was very good and clearly the best of the night but I think the judges went a little overboard, which might have had something to do with the fact Jay's dance felt like a breath of fresh air after an overall disappointing show.

Jay really was that good, actually. Had this routine been danced exactly as it was now in week 7, he would have received 40. His flicks and kicks were quite advanced. The routine itself was brilliantly choreographed. Jay actually danced the jive exceedingly better than Anton. LOL. I'm serious. Compare if you like.

Manners maketh the man. ![]() I think I may have found someone (apart from wee Daniel) to champion.Aliona (never a fave of mine) outdid herself with that choreography and performance. It was superb and worthy of a 10! |
