I'd forgotten that was a week 3 dance, and they also did it with next to no practice because Vincent injured himself early in the week.

BTW I enjoyed watching Kellie too but she too was predictably great. She didn't bring anything new for me.”

Ah. Ok, fair enough. Sorry to misquote you
I don't think anyone could have predicted that even Jay was going to be quite that good though.
He'd been great in the previous two weeks but a little bit 'sterile' imo ( probably due to nerves ).
This dance was a revelation, confidence wise.

As for Kellie & Kevin, their dance was a disappointment to me. After seeing some training clips I really thought that was going to be the Wow Dance of the evening.
I thought their Cha Cha last week was better.

I wonder if he's the producers favourite? The studio went completely OTT.

Not saying he was bad because he was very very good, but not THAT good. Certainly not worthy of a 10, in week 3. In my opinion.

My faves in Movie Week: Kellie & Kevin, Daniel & Kristina, Anita & Gleb, and Helen & Aljaz.

Was it actually that good and worth a 10 so early in the series?”

Oh dear.

I agree. I never get a chance to watch clips from 'It takes two' so for me what is I see is on the night.

Well I thought it was fabulous .
I thought Kellie and Kevin , Anita and Gleb and Peter Andre were very good but Jay and Aliona were on another level last night and that dance deserved a 10.

I thought it was amazing at the start with perfect synchronicity, but I kept waiting for some dancing in hold. The last 3 seconds were the only bit. That's what disappointed me about it. The synchronicity should have been a feature that made you think WOW! But the whole dance side by side like that despite the great timing meant it lacked something for me.

It was good, it was worth a 10, but I don' think it was the best dance EVER. i.e. better than all previous dances in all previous series. I think the judges got a bit over excited.

In my totally amateur opinion, the dance steps were great, but some of the John Travolta moves weren't as crisp as they should have been.

Certainly the best dance of the series so far, but EVER, I don't think so.

When you put it like that yes, Kellie has a lot of work to do. You're good at picking out the fine details, I wish I could.

Sorry but i don't get this nonsense about "being given a 10 so early in the series".
If a sprinter breaks the 100 meter record in the heats does that not stand as a world record because it was in a heat ?
Of course it stands ....

Oh I think she was brilliant at what she was given. It was more Kevin's (if it was his) choreography that disappointed me. I'd have rather seen the side by side as a small part of the dance or even half and half. Because the whole thing was danced side by side, the fact her timing was so good wasn't like a big wow moment in the dance.

Strange that we had a similar discussion last week regarding Peter Andre supposedly getting what some want to call "the pimp slot"”

I think we'll get a variation of that thread every week when someone other than a person's fave is in the 'pimp slot' tbh. Idgi - whether you think it deserved the score it got or not it was clearly the best dance of the night by a large distance so of course it was going to go last. I've seen people in the states sharing the vid of it on social media this morning - theres no mad conspiracy, it's just the best dance from last night.

If they put all the good ones on at the start some people would switch off.”

BIB As someone else who does ballroom and Latin, I totally agree. For once it was actually a proper jive, unlike the mish-mash of rock 'n roll and swing that most couples resort to on Strictly, and with a few tweaks (i.e. taking out the Pulp Fiction actions) it was good enough to be classed as a 'proper' competitive jive.

Best dance ever ? No, I agree, I think that would be taking it too far. But I do think it could possibly be the best jive ever by a male celebrity. I also think it could become one of the most memorable. The whole package was just so perfect. An iconic scene from the movies, one that nearly everyone remembers. Beautifully choreographed, great characterisation (even if it was luck that it suited Jay's blank expression) and fabulously performed.
Actually, I'm almost talking myself into it. Perhaps it was one of the best ever dances ? It's one I can imagine watching time and time again.

Ha ha, I thought the same, those jaded parts might have been written for him and not for Travolta. But he smiled once or twice, so something got to him. It must feel great performing such a routine and get such a response.

Yes, mesmerising is just the word.

I like Jay. Noticed he said 'thank you' when he took his popcorn, lovely guy.

This is exactly how I feel.

I find Jay, quite frankly, boring. Technically he is very good and his timing was sublime in the jive but I just don't feel it.

The dance was excellent but left me cold. I preferred Jeremy's performance tbh

If I remember rightly, in at least one previous series, the producers instructed the judges not to hand out 10s early in the series. I seem to remember one time Len saying he wanted to give a 10 but couldn't because he wasn't allowed to so early. I don't know if the producers still do that, but even if they do, Bruno obviously didn't care.

He seems to be a nicely brought up boy. Good to watch and sometimes I forget that he is a celeb contestant.

I think Darcey wanted to give it 10, too. That's how I understand her saying that since it is a round three, it's a nine.

It was very good and clearly the best of the night but I think the judges went a little overboard, which might have had something to do with the fact Jay's dance felt like a breath of fresh air after an overall disappointing show.

Jay really was that good, actually. Had this routine been danced exactly as it was now in week 7, he would have received 40. His flicks and kicks were quite advanced. The routine itself was brilliantly choreographed. Jay actually danced the jive exceedingly better than Anton. LOL. I'm serious. Compare if you like.

Well the dance was BRILLIANT. I absolutely loved it from start to finish and have watched it loads today as well.

I noticed the way he thanked the young lady too...nice touch. Manners maketh the man.

I think I may have found someone (apart from wee Daniel) to champion.

Aliona (never a fave of mine) outdid herself with that choreography and performance.

It was superb and worthy of a 10!

I love the way he said ''thank you guys'' to all the other dancers... and how how he keeps looking at his mum.
