Just read a tweet in DT live blog that Jay has has had previous dance training?
Is this allowed?
It was an incredible dance but surely unfair on other contestants.

Yes but so has Helen and a few of the others have as well, I'm sure other posters will enlighten us on them.

It's easier to name the ones who haven't than name the ones who have. He's not the only one in this series, let alone across all the years.

It's all in his official BBC Strictly bio.
And numerous threads.

Hello you

It is a tad unfair, I mean he has had loads of dance training, he was my 2nd favourite but not anymore. I don't mind some but he is looking shocked and surprised at his marks.

Exactly. No one mentions that Kellie was teaching at the Sylvia Young School up until she got the part in EastEnders. Bet that included dancing.

He and Helen both have serious amounts of specific dance schooling, Kellie and Georgia both went to a stage school, Peter and Jamelia have done extensive pop video jigging and that's it, as far as I'm aware, unless anyone else can dig up stuff on other people. It's hardly "most of them".

But yes, it's nothing new or particularly scandalous.

Already raised this on a previous thread. An article in the Daily Mail confirmed that he was at a Drama & Dance School for several years. He is clearly desperate to win and he will but it kind of wrecks the programme when the final result is so obvious after just three weeks.

We need to be realistic about it.

This is more an entertainment show than actual competition. If all contestants had no previous dance experience, it would be much fairer, but far less entertaining.

My favourite dances of the night were Jay and Jeremy. Both from different ends of the 'ringah' spectrum but both taking it and running with it and appearing to love it.

Hiya!! Long time no post! I hope all is well with you.
Jay's dance stirred me into action and where better to discuss.

I think they should indicate in some way when someone is already a professional dancer. Although I did love the dance.
Maybe he can be one of the pros next series.

Its not cut and dried that he will win. Yes he will probably get to the final but, we know from the past, that the best dancer doesn't always win. Its down to popularity. However, he has a lot of support - me included.

He'll get away with it because he's a man.

Only women get it in the neck for previous training.

As others have said, there have been many celebs over the years with previous dance training, but as far as I'm aware, it's always been in a different dance discipline. As long as their previous training wasn't specifically in ballroom/latin, I'm fine with it - and the producers certainly don't have a problem with it.

See, I didn't even know that, which proves your point.

When most of the celebrities who are picked are actors and singers or in the entertainment industry, they've usually had some dance training along the way. It is what it is. And some of the best dancers have been ones who have had no dance training. So I really have no issue with it.

Really? I thought that Peter Andre was supposed to be winning this?

Where have you been for the past 10 years? Numerous contestants have had previous dance training over the years. Perfectly normal and allowed, as long as they weren't junior ballroom champions!

To be fair there's always been someone in the line up with some sort of dancing experience even as far back as the earlier series. ie. Jill Halfpenny.
