another thread?

I don't have a problem with it...but also I don't have a problem with people who DO have a problem with it AS LONG AS they're consistent about having a problem with it.

That said, I wouldn't have a problem with more disclosure on the main show.

I guess Mark Cavendish being a child ballroom champ might be a bit of an obstacle, but I'd still love to see him do Strictly as the ringiest ringah ever

Of course he should continue. It's an entertainment show and he and Aliona are - so far - the best entertainers.

I don't really see the problem with him taking part. It's not like it has been kept a secret, his bio on the strictly website says he has been to drama and dance schools from the age of 13.

I love to watch someone dance well and it brings me a lot of joy watching him dance each week - I wonder just how good he can actually get if he is at this level already. I equally like to watch the journey those that haven't danced (or had very little experience in dance) after all, isn't it about Saturday Night Entertainment and so far this series has entertained me more than any other to date.

Indeed

Almost as though someone wants to continue to provoke comments on a subject that is already covered on several threads.

That behaviour seems awfully familiar.

Hopefully it will be amalgamated into an appropriate thread

I haven't read the article, but I would assume it's criticism of TPTB rather than criticism of Jay.

Why doesn't someone put up a poll and have done with it. We seemed to have covered everything about Jay but no poll.

Quite frankly I am sick of all these threads but I suppose all the time we reply to them they will keep going.

I felt the same during Series 6 when there was a lot of negativity toward Rachel and Lisa, which I didn't think was justified.

I had to readjust and realise that I had control of how much I was affected by it.

He is my number one dream contestant

The thought of him getting huffy with Craig in Flemish gives me the warm fluffies

All the stuff about previous dance experience is beyond tedious. We seem to have it every year. If you had watched the ITT training during the week, you would have said Jay looked like he was struggling a lot with the footwork.

I think it is testament to him, and Aliona's training, that he pulled it all together for the big night and produced such a superb routine.

And it's not as if "discussing" it would change anybody's opinion. You don't like it? great, don't vote for the celeb(s).

It's the same people that complain every year. Their faux outrage is indeed tedious.

Often you can also find them saying that they didn't like the dance or that the contestant danced it badly .. that they had terrible arms/hands/feet/frame/expression but all the same .. they should be outed on ITT for being the ringiest ringer of all.

Apparently .. Jay taking part in this is the same as Torvill & Dean taking part in Dancing on Ice! I think that's my fave analogy so far.

None of them can explain why it wasn't a problem in Jill Halfpenny's year.

I'm "people", and myself and plenty of others think he shouldn't be participating when he is a professional in all but name . I bet he has lots of little diplomas hanging in his bedroom . 6 years at dance academy is just taking the piss .
It's ridiculous , in much the same way that signing up an injured boxer with little use of one arm is . There need to be limitations at both ends of the scale . Stage school ? fine . They focus on acting , Enunciation , Characterisation and Presentation as much as dancing .Dance is only part of a varied cariculum . Dance academy where it is dance only and includes ballroom is just taking viewers for mugs . He has already been crowned winner by the producers , just as Antony said (he might deny it now , but in the bitter heat of eviction and being 'snubbed' I believe he spoke from the heart ).

Or Caroline last year. Pixie got all the flack, but flackers () got none.

What people cant stand is that this year the currently most popular contestant is actually a ringer!

Caroline did get some last year - more towards the final. I seem to remember the good old Mail of Dailyness doing one of their exposes on it, and people being amazed about it just being uncovered - even though it was on Caroline's own Wiki page, her BBC bio and she'd talked about it.

I know, but nothing compared to Pixie's and it was very late in the game when it was fairly clear she was going to win. The fact that everyone mentions DVO, Natalie Gumede or Pixie when discussing ringers but Caroline's name never comes up. Not that I was bitter that she won, in fact I was delighted, she was my imaginary bookies winner from the start and quite liked her.
But proves my point that for the ringer status and attack to stick and damage, is necessary some degree of unlikeability. If you are likeable and connect with people beyond the dance, that ringer status is forgiven.

And isnt Frankie's mum a ballroom and latin teacher? I read it somewhere, but never had it confirmed.

1. It's supposed to be entertainment. 2. And has always been a mixed ability show. 3. He's a joy to watch.
