Perhaps we can handicap him from now on to even it up?
Inline skates, a suit of armour and an NHS operation that goes horribly wrong should soon give Jeremy Vine a run for his money.

This with bells on ^ .
I don't want to see perfection every week . I want to see blossoming , in the manner of Jeremy tonight . Plus a gaining of confidence like jeremy and daniel are displaying . Even dancers losing momentum , like peter and antony and Kanton is more watchable and realistic than Mr Perfectly Trained dancing perfectly every week . That's just dull . May as well just sit here watching youtube vids of perfect routines from the past .
There must be something wrong with you if you thought that Jay's dancing tonight was dull, it was one of the most exciting performances in the history of the entire series.

Oh probably, the end of S6 is still too raw for me to investigate.

When my sister was young she went to dance classes and got trophies in both ballroom and latin but as she hasn't done it since she was a child she can't remember any of it. So it may be the case of 'previous dance training' but doesn't necessarily mean they remember it like it was yesterday

Frankly, I want Mark Cavendish as a contestant when he stops riding. He will be the dirtiest ringer that ever rung and I won't care one jot
I didn't realise he had a bell on his TdF race bike.

They can also choreograph a dance to this

I didn't realise that he is effectively a trained dancer (if James Jordan is to be believed ).

Jay

Great theme and a great dance
Overall I absolutely loved it but let's not forget fully trained dancer

Not his fault of course

I said this about Jay weeks ago. He has had extensive ballet training, hence his ability to spot on spins etc. Like others have said it has now become an entertainment programme and I'd rather watch celebs who've had some dance training (most of them) than the absolute beginners who are usually like a car crash, Anita Rani excepted who just seems to have the knack of picking up the dances and as far as I can see has not had any dance training before.
And bless him I doubt Jeremy has ever had any dance training but, I love his enthusiasm.

I think it came out later that both Jill and Scott had prior ballroom/latin.
Ah, ok. I wasn't 100% certain that none of the celebs had had ballroom/latin training, which is why I said that as far as I was aware they hadn't. However, I stopped getting upset long ago about celebs with previous dance experience, just as long as it was in a different genre.

I really didn't want to like Jay because of his previous dance training, but ........

I just can't stop watching it on youtube, I sit here with tingles up my spine. I dunno if it's the music (especially the second half), his dancing or combination of both.

I've no problem with some of the contestants having dance training...it is nice to see some good dances on the show. As for being unfair....the voting public can often make choices that could be deemed 'unfair'....quite often having a huge fan base can work more in your favour than having dance training - in fact, sometimes dance training can be a disadvantage as it can turn the viewers against you.

Although not a big Helen fan, I do feel a little bit sorry for her though, as her dance training has been brought up continually on the show, whereas I don't think Jays has been mentioned. Of course its not hidden and you can find it if you look on the website...but many viewers are not into the details as much as the forum members on here are, so I'm sure a lot of casual viewers would know Helen has had training but not Jay.

I have no problem with so many of them having dance training, but I think the likes of Anita should be proud of herself for managing to be up there with them.

I wonder if James would've given a little less of a s**t if he'd been Ola's partner?

So true Walt

It was exceptional that jive. Super cool, sexy, clever and beautiful. That is how you dance, and trust me I am a harsh critic having spent years doing it.

It must be so galling to realise that no amount of whining, back biting, shrill accusations and jealousy will ever make him less than an outstanding dancer.

I can think of quite a few people who will be choking on their cornflakes tomorrow.

Shame

Oh bless JJ and his rampant ego & paranoia problems

Yep, Jay went to a dance academy. But it's strange that James never had any issues with dancing with Denise Van Outen (I know... she only sat on a chair ) or Pamela (reports of her getting lots of ballroom lessons before the series - wasn't it with Bruno too?)

And I'm sure Jay's training wouldn't have even been a subject for debate if he'd been partnered with Ola...

James went above and beyond in defending Denise when up until now she was the biggest ringer the show had.

Thank goodness he went to a dance academy , it gave us one of the best jives I've ever seen . Loved the theme , music , jammed packed with choreography and they both obviously loved dancing to it . Made my Saturday night.

I agree, it was absolutely fantastic, the best jive that I have ever seen on strictly... I will watch that a time or twenty......

Crosses fingers and wishes that someone on Twitter will ask James whether that means he has only sat on a chair.

We need to be realistic about it.

This is more an entertainment show than actual competition. If all contestants had no previous dance experience, it would be much fairer, but far less entertaining.
I agree, much as I admire Carol for example, I am not sure I would watch if they were all of that standard - if I did watch it would have to be a few weeks in when they had improved. I love to watch dance, although I am not good at it myself, so I like to see it done so well.

Anyone with a Twitter account care to remind him?

You can bet your booty it wouldn't have been.

Poor unemployed James, wittering away in his jammies. A 'has been' with no stage, no role and a great deal of pointless anger.

there is only so much of his pretendy little boy lost act that I can stand .
You might be right there. It is starting to look a little bit like we've been had. He did two spins last week like a trained ballet dancer and had cut off his hair as if he were trying to appeal to the little girls.
I wonder if he has revealed his hand too early, making him only two weeks cleverer than Ricky Whittle.

Yes he is a trained contemporary dancer.

Jay attended Newark's Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance and the prestigious Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama in Nottingham.

As of June 2015 Jay has been in the studio with Shytown Music and has been brushing up on his dancing skills

Where did I say jay's dance was dull , don't twist my words . Comprehension is all .
I said that watching everyone dancing perfect routines week after week would be dull .
Rather pointless and very boring indeed .
