Too high expectations
Poor Katie. Why such high expectations. Week one, she was average, week two, really good but dancing with Tango master, week three had to dance the awkward cha cha, so why expect perfection, its not fair

Who expected perfection? But some cha cha would have been nice and the cha cha she did do was poorly executed. She deserved her marks and Anton deserved less, I don't see what's so unfair about it. ![]() It's a dancing competition or rather an entertainment show based on dancing where there will be a competitive element, neither partner did that well. |

Note that the proportion of cha cha in Katie's routine was greater than the proportion of rumba in the (very able) Georgia's routine. Some people (not on this thread) appear to think that because she did well in jive, a fast dance, Katie would be good in cha cha, but the action and technique are completely different |

I agree with your assessment but that sentence doesn't entirely make sense. If the little cha cha she did was poorly executed, then a lot more cha cha would have been even more poorly executed. It's a difficult decision for the professional, but presumably Anton took the decision to do less and try and get it to better standard (and at least he got her to try and straighten her legs which is a lot more than Ainsley did, say, or Jamelia in previous weeks). However he realised, and acknowledged, he had made the wrong call (based on the judges' reactions) and looked quite upset about it. I would imagine he won't make the same mistake again, say in the samba, assuming they're still in. But I do wonder if more content would necessarily have meant higher marks.

Why are the ones who are popular because they already have dance experience getting scored highly and not in context of the competition? If it was a proper competition it would only have contestants who have nil dance experience and they would be judged on how much better they become through training with the professionals. As it happens I don't really mind the contestants who have dance experience as they entertain me more than the one who have no experience. |

I did think Katie was a little overrated the first week but her tango was fabulous. She's not in the top 5 IMO but definitely in the better half of the pack and will probably be someone who impresses depending on which dance she gets.
