Seriously I like her very much. I think her beautiful foxtrot got a bit lost in all the showiness of last night (taking nothing away from the other great performances). I know what one or two people are saying that she seems a bit aloof and this might be mistaken for arrogance but I think it is possibly something else.
Yes, I agree. I know Strictly's evolved and the audience have come to expect flashier performances, but I wouldn't have had Helen's no-frills Foxtrot any other way - it was gorgeous to watch.

I love her and Aliaz together they seem so sweet, I hope they get to the final. Aliaz was wasted last year with Alison he's one of the best dancers on the show.

She took ballet lessons for years at a time when the name in lights was Darcy Bussell's. Now put yourself in the shoes of that little girl who grew up idolising her role model and now she is stood in front of her, eye to eye and getting critic, positive critique, from her childhood heroine. That must be extraordinary.

Think about it - imagine your childhood hero. The person plastered on your bedroom wall, Donny Osmond, Les McEwan, Robbie Williams, David Beckham, the knickerless tennis girl ( one for the blokes ) and now imagine meeting them and them praising you. Wouldn't you be a bit overcome? I would.

When Darcy gave her critique last night I honestly though Helen would cry or faint. She looked quite overwhelmed.
Awwww . ..now putting it like that , I see it

I love Aljaz so I tend to love whatever partner he is allocated...mind you, my patience was sorely tested with the Laughing policeman "Alison" last year.

Howver, I think Helen is absolutely beautiful and a really nice dancer. I thought herself and Aljaz looked sublime last night.

I really like this couple, certainly as far as ballroom is concerned. I hope she really continues to improve.

Yes, her ballroom is good. Latin is respectable. She has a good attitude in that she is trying to learn each dance properly, rather than produce a superficial representation of it. Hope she goes far.

I have found these comments to be really helpful in thinking about Helen, especially about her being overcome about dancing in front of her idol and being used to being interviewed about her acting parts rather than as herself. I hope she does well.

Really enjoyed Helen and Alijaz's foxtrot . One of the best dance's of the night and deserved the 4x8's .

They have a great partnership and Alijaz is a wonderful teacher .

I really like her as a personality, I've seen her on a few shows and she seems lovely. As Jennifer said, her performances would be much better if she could relax. She seems to tense up as soon as the music starts.

She comes across as a bit 'brittle'. She seems to be trying very hard to say the right things and wants to be liked, but its not coming over as very natural at the moment. I can't remember anything about their dance last night at all.
Good description of her, glad it's not just me who feels that way.

I suspect that she is naturally quite shy. A surprising number of actors are in real life. As she progresses, and her confidence grows, I expect she will loosen up a bit.

I had never seen Helen before SCD, I think Aljaz will succeed in making her a very good dancer... and she might even make the semi final, I don't rate her as high as Anita or Kellie, but time will tell....

She has a different style and has natural elegance. She is already a good ballroom dancer and I look forward to seeing further improvement.

I really like her and her dance last night was my second favourite, and I liked a lot of them. She seems sweet and vulnerable to me, honestly loving it all, still slightly overwhelmed, and I can easily believe that it's weird for actors and actresses not to have a character and to have to 'be themselves'. She's a good match to Alijaz who can both show off how good a dancer she is and seems to look after her more nervous side. Whether all the dances will suit her is too soon to say, but that's true of everyone. Just my take on her, but she doesn't come across as competitive to me, so much as a perfectionist who wants to get it right (especially for Darcy).
I really like her as well, she does come across as being a bit fragile, and probably has the best partner for her in Alijaz (or Pasha would have equally been great), lovely dance on Saturday, although it did get a bit lost in the mix after the jive, she's working hard and I look forward to her dances, she looked gorgeous as well, Mr AK was totally transfixed

I really like her. I get that the whole "posh" aura might be irritating to some, but I find her quite charming.

I feel a bit sorry for her actually after her dancing credits were "exposed" in the media. I'm wondering though whether she'll be able to deliver a possibly even better jive than Jay, after it was listed as a skill on her CV, or whether it was just added to embellish her qualifications.

Same here, I thought that was the best foxtrot we've had for a little while. It's not a flashy dance so often gets overlooked but it really flowed.

I like Helen, she's one of my favourites so far and I hope she manages to loosen up in the Latin. I'm getting a bit of an Ali Bastion (who I also liked) vibe from her to date - lovely ballroom, bit 'careful' in the Latin.
I loved her foxtrot too - and usually Strictly foxtrots are (to my non-Ballroom eye) a random mess or coma-inducingly beige. But Helen and Alijaz's was lovely

I think you are right with this IIRC when talking after the dance she was talking about being able to get into the character of Marilyn and I think she found it easier to be a character than being Helen when dancing. I would agree she does seem more shy and reserved that doesnt necessarily make her aloof or arrogant, I can relate in that I am very shy around people until I get to know people well and trust them to a degree I am very quiet and reserved and would probably come off the same way as being a bit off its not intentional its just dealing with shyness.

I think she is very fragile at the moment but given her marriage broke up not long before the series started it is perhaps understandable, she will still be dealing with that plus the medua was blaming the curse of strictly which was an achievement given they hadnt even been paired up at that point so must be tough to have all that going on in the background plus learning new routines etc etc and trying to appeal to the public and not come across badly.

I like Helen as Trixie in CTM so knew of her before Strictly and she is one of my favourites this year along with Anita and hope both do well.

I like the way Helen comes across (the antithesis of Kellie Bright) and I think she and Aljaz are beautiful together.

I have enjoyed all of her dances so far. When she was interviewed during the rehearsal sequence they show on the results show, she said that she loved getting the opportunity to dress up as Marilyn Monroe for her foxtrot.

She is someone who I always look forward to seeing on the show.
