This all got a bit mean in my opinion. It does seem like some posts were trying to outdo others in terms of nastiness, to the point where posters were congratulating each other on what had been said. I like Kirsty, I like Brendan. Maybe each of them could have done better with different respective partners, we'll never know, but to me it looks like they can handle each other's personalities quite well and genuinely get on. Perhaps some people were expecting tears and tantrums?
Kirsty has admitted she is very competitive and I think she is more disappointed with herself at not being as good a dancer as she wanted to be. She speaks really well of Brendan so part of her disappointment appears to be that she's letting him down too. Not that I know her personally to be able to say that, but certainly she has never seemed angry to me.The comments she got for her Salsa did not concur with her scores so I don't blame either of them if they were a bit puzzled by that. Listening to Brendan and reading his tweets I think he has been trying to build her confidence by talking her abilities up. Because we don't get to see much training footage anymore it could be true that she is a lot better in practice than she is on the night. However Kirsty needed to help herself too and in fairness to her, being in the dance off may have given her the jolt she needed. She did really well in it and has said she liked it (strange to hear anyone say that but as she is competitive perhaps that situation is one that brings out the best in her). I hope she continues to improve and wish both Kirsty and Brendan the best of luck.
