Unfortunately due to her support from BBC Breakfast and Chris Evans on Radio 2 as well as perverts who post videos like this on YouTube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wroB-sX-hb0 looks like she will be here for the long run

not much cop, but hugely popular, carol has the distinct advantage of never doing an ounce of dance (from hip hop/pop video to modern to ballet as a 5 year old)before...so she should go far...

Of course. My point was that her interpretation /presentation of the facts, which is her job, presumably, is often flawed. She spends more time during the forecast preening her ego than she does talking, even reasonably intelligently, about the weather.

As for that permanent rictus grin - truly awful.

And still, her dancing is well below the standard that even Judy Murray managed last year.

I don't get why people get so annoyed when weaker dancers progress further in the comp than their ability merits. Strictly is an entertainment show, it adds to the mix for me, and you have to remember some, like Carol, are starting from a much lower base than others with previous dancing experience.

Carol & Pasha are an endearing partnership, Pasha has actually choreographed some very nice routines, and Carol has applied herself well.

Jeremy and Karen, meanwhile, are adding even more by way of entertainment value

Carol will leave when she faces the combination of not getting enough public votes and not surviving the dance off. Simple to understand.

And, to be fair, it's only WEEK TWO!!!! (of the dance-offs).

Good God. This is like a week 7 thread!!!!

There are others in the competition who haven't made much progress yet aside from Carole and - I repeat - IT'S ONLY WEEK RUDDY TWO, NOT WEEK SIX/SEVEN!

Indeed.

It's a pity people don't get this basic concept.

I call it the 'Big Brother' syndrome. People from that background tend to think that contestants get booted off when actually, it is about positive voting and as long as people 'vote for their favourites' (which is what we're urged to do every week) then whoever are the 'most favourites' of that weekend (combined with the judges' scores) will remain.

And .... IT'S WEEK TWO, NOT WEEK SIX/SEVEN. (Just thought I'd throw that one in free of charge). .

Am I missing out by not being in a climatologist clique?”

You are clearly a young working person. Carol is a regular on BBC Breakfast, which is watched mainly by retired men and women, where she does an outstanding job, far better than the majority of weather presenters. My husband, for one, absolutely loves her. Even so, we hope for her sake she goes soon, because she is well out of her comfort zone, and I feel for her when she stands there with that radiant smile whilst Craig and even Bruno comprehensively rubbish her.

Can't they show her baking tortes or something? Silently! Or better still, throwing a strop at Pasha. Anything to give her a human personality instead of this Stepford Grandma cheeriness. I thought Scots were supposed to have a natural knack for grimglumming instead of this perky-pesky 1950's America treacle.”

I think you hit the nail on the head.

Hopefully soon she'll be gone

I work full-time but it would be stretching it to call me "young"...I would have thought the references to John Kettley and Michael Fish would have given it away!

Given her wooden performance, notwithstanding her fixed smile, (you know, the one that doesn't quite reach her eyes), she should have gone this week.

The very fact that SCD is an entertainment show is precisely why I don't understand the appeal of Carol, as I can't see any entertainment value in a middle-aged woman plodding around the dancefloor and grinning a lot. But hey, different things appeal to different people and obviously someone likes her - thankfully nobody TOO good has been booted out yet, if that happens and Carol is still there then she'll really get slated.

I completely agree with this. Also, in fairness to Carol and Jeremy, they are both much better than some of the so-called 'duffers' of the past.

Eh? All the young working people I know (myself included!) watch BBC Breakfast in the morning rather than that trash on the other side. That way we get actual news, not celeb gossip

Carol is popular because she's 'The World's Nicest Woman'. No seriously, she's such a warm, lovely lady that it's hard not to like her. That will keep her going for a couple of weeks yet but like all not so good dancers her time will come on this show. I think she'll go before Jeremy tbh. Although Kirsty and Jamelia may well be out before them.

Totally agree with you.

I am not retired, far from it.

I watch BBC Breakfast because it focus on real news instead of the manufactured Z list celeb gossip. I haven't watched ITV breakfast since TVAM days

Oh crikey - now that will be going round in my head for days. Another one showing her age here!

To get back to Carol, she'll last a few more weeks yet - I'd say maybe until Blackpool - but then I'd expect her to be gone as by then she'll be pretty much certain to be bottom with the judges and unless she's top with the voters (which I doubt she is, just higher than those who have already gone) then she'll end up in the dance off and bow out gracefully as Judy Murray did last year.

I can see why people would vote for her. She's very popular because of her day job. She's pleasant and cheery. She tries really hard to learn to dance and she is improving.

I think she'll be here a few weeks more.

I am sure she will be graceful when she does go, she's a classy lady. Just a shame she doesn't seem to be enjoying it anywhere near as much as Judy did; she looks quite forlorn at times.
