Anthony talks about his exit from Strictly including doubts about this week's song choice.

"I'm quite young, I'm not a BBC face, I'm not Jeremy Vine, a BBC voice. I've got probably the smallest fanbase and boxing isn't mainstream.

"And even Oti, she's new on the show, she's not English, she's got the smallest fanbase out of all the dancers, I've got the smallest fanbase out of all the celebs. I think we were up against it from the get go.

"The judges weren't giving us much love – it was going to be hard for us. I am disappointed we didn't get more support from the powers that be."

Anthony Ogogo wasn't very happy about having to dance to Rocky on Strictly

If there was an Irish dancing round he could have been alright at that.

I think he has got a point, though he was not the only one done a disservice with their number this week. Theme weeks do my head in.

The powers that be shouldn't have asked him in his condition. But I don't think he should have accepted in his condition either.

I'd have liked to have seen how he would have done fully fit.

He lacks charm, that's a big stumbling block on SCD when you couple,it with not being able to dance.

I agree with his comments about the Rocky theme. How many more weeks did they intend to keep up the stupid boxing connection ? But the real reason he didn't survive was because he entered with an injury to his right shoulder/arm. He should have waited until next year, if his professional boxing career allowed.

Yes his small fan base, and having a new to SCD dancer as a partner with no SCD following was a hurdle. But he then had to be good.

He was off time, and basically couldn't dance, the scoring was fair, he just didn't do it.

Carol does have a big fan base, post that the next two lowest scores were in the dance off.

His dancing was awful. He was dancing as if he was half injured or something.

Ps: Is he really so arrogant - or has he been quoted out of context?

This ^ . Very much so .
They are shite in general and this year the wardrobe crew were taking the piss with a few of the 'costumes' , doing the dancers no favours whatsoever in showcasing any dancing .
How on earth was Antony supposed to do the classic paso moves with an injured arm ? Stupid movie week .

I agree with him. Most of the time I feel the themes, silly costumes and inappropriate
music interfere with the style of the dance and I think it was harsh for them to be given the paso so early considering his shoulder injury.

I thought he came across as a lovely lad - and Oti is several shades of awesome - but who thought ia guy who still can't lift his arm up to mouth level was a good fit for the paso or a dancing competition as a whole?

I wish people would exit gracefully. I would have liked to see his journey too but that is the nature of competition which is also voted by the British public who will save their favourites for whatever reason. I know words do get twisted in the press so I'll wait to see what his ITT interview is like tomorrow. Hope it's not like Iwan who was like a deluded spoiler brat.

Good for him for being honest. It's depressing to see people getting stuck with songs that have been chosen because of the celeb's job rather than what will be the best for the dance, and God knows how depressing it is to dance something you don't believe in (and second in the show) in such a public area. I really liked him and wish him a speedy recovery and I hope the lovely Oti stays in longer next year.

I really liked him - and I've come to rather adore Oti - but I am pleased he is out, truth be told. His shoulder needs to recover and staying in Strictly was only going to hinder that. Sometimes real life is more important than a dancing show.

It was only this week, surely?

Depending how accurate The Mirror article I've just read is (never entirely trust the tabloids) he is already sounding like a very sulky spolied brat. If true then my opinion of him has changed somewhat as this is also coming across very entitled and hard done by and a bit nasty. I get he is disappointed but surprised at his reaction. Cant get the link to work but came up on the mirror on facebook

Yes, I'd completely agree. I kept thinking 'Is that hurting him?' rather than thinking whether he was doing a good paso. I am sad because I felt like it mattered to him to stay in, but it is not worth risking long term injury for this show.

Anyone would think he had had to pay the BBC for the privilege of fannying about pretending to learn to dance for 6 weeks.

How do you know he was only pretending to learn? He looked like he was doing reasonably well to me.

I agree with this. Also, while he seems like a really nice guy, he's not a charismatic charmer. That's why Jeremy is liked. I doubt being a BBC radio personality would keep him in without his personality and his partnership with Karen.

Loved him....but he just wasn't good. There are others like him still in the competition so he's right that being unknown to many didn't help him.

He needed to improve in order to get votes and that didn't happen. The judges were quite mean to him but i think that's because of his profession and the perception that he could take it.

I just hope Oti is back next year, though....i;m not hopeful. It seems like Gleb and Giovanni have captured the interest of the viewing public in comparison (this is just based on social media)

I'm glad he's said that actually. The boxing theme is horrendous for a dance where the dancers have to make matador shapes. The styles are mismatched and on movie week the couple have to act the role, not just dance to the music.

More than that, if a celeb says that he doesn't like the theme and wants to do something else then that should be listened to. This guy is a guest who has volunteered to do the show and there will be less volunteers in the future if they get badly treated.

For a guy with one arm out of action he did very well indeed. But my point was that for a one armed boxer that was probably the best 6 weeks of employment he could have hoped for.
