Ticket touts

Hi!

I'm gutted to have missed out on tickets for a gig next month and it's now sold out. There are no tickets on eBay or scarletmist currently.

I've never bought from a tout but I'm seriously considering it cos I really want to go to this gig! However it's not a local venue to me so we'd be travelling about an hour and a half & booking a hotel for the night and I know it's a risk that there may not even be any touts outside anyway as it's not one of the major big arenas.

What I'm wondering is - How much more than face value do they normally charge?

Thanks

Depends who we're talking about (and the venue) for starters. But a tip: Keep checking with the venue and ticket websites regularly as there are almost always extra tickets released nearer to the time. On more than one occasion I've got face value tickets for shows that have been listed as 'sold out' for months on the afternoon of the show itself, either from the box office or from Ticketmaster, Eventim, etc. If you don't have any luck just turn up at the venue and keep checking with the box office for any late returns or cancellations. But if you really MUST use a tout then hold off as late as possible as they will start dropping their prices the closer you get to showtime so that they can try to get rid of them.

Have you tried Stubhub as I have used them a few times without issue

Thanks for the tips Phil.

I have looked at Stub Hub and Get me In but they're more than I want to pay at the moment

Don't talk to me about Stubhub! First (and only) time I resorted to using them they screwed up and didn't process the order properly. First I was told it would be electronic delivery/print at home, then the night before the gig I got an email saying to collect it at the box office, which had no record of it. Spent half an hour on my mobile trying to sort it out (twenty minutes of which were spent on hold), before being told to check at the box office and buy a new ticket to get in and they'd refund me. Missed the start of the show and ended up at the back of the hall when the ticket I'd 'bought' was for the front blocks. They refunded the ticket cost but refused to refund the mobile charges and offered me a credit voucher, when I said I'd rather have a cheque or cash refund, or the voucher value paid back to my card account because I didn't intend to use them again, they refused so I told them to stuff the voucher and not to contact me again.

I'd pretty much echo what other people have said.

Depending who it is I'd also keep an eye on the bands Twitter and Facebook. Some artists re-tweet people selling tickets, I've seen a few do it such as Frank Turner and The Cribs. I also sold a Pete Doherty ticket via Facebook when my mate couldn't make it, I just posted a message on his Facebook page and someone snapped it up, I then just met them outside the venue.

As for StuHub, I've sold a ticket on there before without issue, I sold at face value as I had to go to a wedding the same day, the gig wasn't even sold out and someone bought it which I found strange.

That's because it was at face value. Very few tickets are on Stubhub.

You won't find tickets for anything on EBay. They stopped selling tickets two years ago. All tickets are now sold on their sister site Stubhub.

Well yes but I don't get why you'd buy it on StubHub rather than See or TicketMaster or the venue itself. It wasn't sold out and if given the choice and they were both the same price (which they were) I wouldn't choose to buy from StubHub, that's what I found strange.

Oh I didn't know this, I wondered why I couldn't find any!

Thank you
