Male viewers - do you actually watch any of the male celebs or pro dancers? (Yes, I know that some of you on here do, along with two of the male judges, but you know what I mean). People talk about Aliash this and Pasha that, but I never even see them. I've only just worked out which ones are Anton and Brendan...

I think men and women alike are drawn to the woman dancing (generally), since they have the more eye-catching dresses and colours, and the choreography is usually created to showcase the woman.

I try to watch all the celebrities, male or female. Sometimes it's not so easy because my eyes are drawn towards the female professsional and they're all gorgeous. But you have to try, there wouldn't be much point in following the show otherwise..not if you want to discuss it afterwards anyway.
But if it's pro dances, I never really know or care what the male professional is doing.

I am more interested in the male celeb dancers, of the ladies I like watching them too but being an oldish bloke I am not distracted by pretty young lasses so much these days.

I always focus on the celeb but occasionally the professional will catch my attention - an example being last Saturdays Helen - Aljaz dance - just because Aljaz was dancing too fantastically to ignore.

Well, yes, but I'm gay so that might be why.

I usually focus on the celeb rather than the pro, though.

My attention during the dance is very much on the celebs - male and female alike - but only occasionally do I notice the pro.

Agree, and this is generally true in life, also, i.e. women care about other women's hair, dress sense, etc.

Thanks for the comments, everyone, and wazzyboy - I bet I;m older than you

I'm 100% hetero and I look at both in general as the dance, though I'm more drawn to the ladies for obvious reasons (especially as they jog up the stairs). I like to see what the males do to lead their ladies, be it footwork or armwork, in hope someday (never) that I would be able to pull off some moves like that for my lady in some drink-related dutch-courage.

I'll try and watch the male celeb though unless they are really good it can be difficult. Some do draw me in. It's true that dresses, etc means often I am probably watching the female more. Interesting, not really thought about it.

Iwan I watched for a bit whilst he was still in (haven't seen him since).
I saw Peter stomp,Jay kick,Jeremy,,,do that brilliant thing (whatever it was) he does and Ainsley waddle but,I have to confess, when Anthony started I was too busy seeing if Oti's legs looked as long on Strictly as they appeared in a photo I had seen.

p.s. don't remember regarding Daniel.

Just watching the females would be strange; I enjoy the whole show. Besides, constantly getting up off the sofa would knacker my knees, which are giving me gyp anyway.

I'm male and I absolutely watch the male contestants, I try and focus on the celebrity mainly but I do generally look at both people in a partnership. I would say I like watching woman dance more but can appreciate a great performance whether it is a man or woman - I mean Jay on Saturday was outstanding, and I loved Jake Wood last year too.

Whichever way you cut it, you're still watching a man and a woman dancing together.

Didn't know that Gleb and Aljaz were women

My male friends do watch the guys (they can't be ignored if they're there can they), but tend to watch the women more intently overall. Even my gay friends tend to comment and analyse the females more than the males, prob because there seems a bit more to discuss with the women in terms of the way they're more noticably dressed (as mentioned above) and also because they tend to do alot of the pretty details in a dance (whereas the men appear more like the supporting pillars that tend to lunge, stand, lift and hold while the female moves in all directions around him). Of course my gay friends might comment on the guys with their bare chests, but strangely they tend to talk more about the females generally (physically and technically). Likewise my female friends watch and talk about the females more, pros or celebs, and of course there is a self-understanding of the female aspects of the dancing (as lots of them, inc myself, have done dancing ourselves). I tend to look at females more generally in life and so I prob do look at the female pros and female celebs more as well (for both dance enjoyment as well as the visual stimulation), though prob not intentionally, it's just more natural I suppose seeing as I have a much more higher attraction to females than males. But I can technically critique both males and females, as I'm sure all viewers can regardless of their gender and attraction). In Strictly, it sometimes just depends on certain dances, like Rumba (female focused) or Paso (male focused). It all depends on what is more eye grabbing.

I watch the celebrity, no matter their gender. I'm a female, but I'm not brain dead so I don't see Gleb's rippling muscles and not watch anything else.

I watch the girl regardless of celebrity or pro,

Then if I like the male celeb I'll watch again and try and focus on them. Still end up watching the female pros though.

Yes I do. I occasionally wonder how the guys wear those trousers and still manage to produce kids

I do tend to prefer watching the females as they seem (appear?) to do more but then again everyone was saying how sexy Aliona was on Saturday and I was too busy watching Jay to notice (she was though.. repeat viewings ).

I watch the celebrities of course, but for a few seconds it was, mmmm, very difficult in Jay & Aliona's jive
