Factory owner goes into self destruct mode- who did it better Corrie or Emmerdale?
Corrie had Factory Owner Carla go into self destruct mode after she believed she caused the Victoria Court fire, she started gambling and blowing all her money which put the factory in danger of closing and also put herself in danger with her constant drinking and even a suicide attempt.
Emmerdale has Factory owner Jai who is in self destruct mode after all his schemes were exposed and lost access to his son he started snorting cocaine and has been letting the factory fall o hard times. So which soap did this story better? Personally I have to go with Corrie, the Jai story just doesn't ring true and for a soap that had a very successful addiction story with Laurel earlier this year its hard to believe they've thrown this crap cocaine addiction story together so poorly. |

I agree, Corrie's was so much better, the ED one is unbearable, I can't stand either Jai or Kirin, the acting from them is appalling and the storyline doesn't make sense. Unfortunately I think it's going to last a while though with Nikhil returning.

I completely agree, last night was just awful with Jai and Kirin acting all hyped up and why didn't they even show them taking the drugs?
And like you said before, there's such a huge difference between the quality of this storyline and Laurel's alcohol addiction, which is a real shame. |

Too scared to show it maybe? I did see some people complain about it on twitter, when what they really need to be complaining about is the so called 'acting'.

I would say Corrie because I could relate to Carla's story.
Jai has been sly and devious for so long, his self-destruction feels more like him just deciding to continue being a selfish idiot. |

I'm saying Emmerdale because I don't watch Corrie. I never liked Carla when I did watch it though.
I loved the way Kirin just dumped Jai on the grass at the hospital! |

Neither, both are awful. Jai's just point blank terrible and the story is really crap, and Carla literally got addicted overnight after a quick game in the pub!

I don't watch Emmerdale, but Carla's meltdowns and constant problems are boring. Actually, anything to do with the factory apparently going under has been dull for years.

The Jai storyline is just a bit too random and not well thought through
Carla's gambling makes more sense |

is a good actor though and the guy who plays Jai is pretty wooden, so from that point of view Corrie do that story better. However, it seems to happen on a rinse, wash, repeat cycle. Surely she would have given up and sold the factory by now? In fact, how has such a small operation survived so many crisies?

Both storylines have been rubbish, IMO. Carla became a gambling addict overnight and then was seemingly cured of her addiction, once again overnight. And the Jai storyline is terrible by default because it involves Jai.

![]() I agree. Alison thingy (sorry I can't be bothered looking up her name) is a good actor though and the guy who plays Jai is pretty wooden, so from that point of view Corrie do that story better. However, it seems to happen on a rinse, wash, repeat cycle. Surely she would have given up and sold the factory by now? In fact, how has such a small operation survived so many crisies? So if you had a few drinks with some friends one night, you could get addicted to booze within the next day or two? Or after playing a game of cards with some mates, you could wake up next morning with such an addiction you couldn't stay away from the casinos and online gambling sites despite never having used them in your life up to that point?

Neither was very good. Jai is just a joke and the actor is fist-chewingly awful.

I'm not keen on either storyline, but I'm going with Carla's. She was more bearable to watch and at least she had a genuine reason for her behaviour as we knew she was crumbling under the misplaced guilt of the fire that killed Maddie and Kal, plus she's also been through a lot in the past. With Jai, he's just an arrogant and selfish (insert choice of expletives here.
) Everything that's led to him abusing cocaine has been down to his own stupidity, there's nothing to emphasize for in him and he only cares about himself. In fact, I'm not convinced he's even physically addicted to coke, he's just taking it because he doesn't care about anyone else to stop and the only thing on his mind is just doing whatever the hell he feels like doing, if anyone has a problem with it then they can get out of his way. I hate that they're making Kirin go along with it all, they should have had him push Jai out of the car while speeding in the middle of nowhere and left him to OD all alone.

I'd say Corrie maybe though it's just because I can't stand Jai can't relate to him at all.

I could have the occasional flutter like the Grand National or something, but I wouldn' t go into a casino or use their websites. They' re designed to give you a high and that can be very addictive. Alcohol' s not a stimulant I don' t think. I get the impression people get a real rush from gambling if they' re susceptible.
