Popularity Test Alert: Substitute Jay for Peter in every way....
If Peter Andre had danced the same standard of jive with Aliona as his partner and got a "10" from Bruno would he
1) have got the same reaction from you as you gave Jay? 2) have excited or bored you if his standard of dancing continued to be that high throughout the competition until he won the whole show? |

I think the OP is trying to provide statistical proof that people are big meanies about Peter.

...previous dance ability-wise, partner-wise, nerves-wise...would Peter have
1) got as favourable a reaction had HE danced that jive and scored a "10" from Bruno in the process? 2) you enjoying or bemoaning his out-dancing of everybody until he ultimately wins Strictly? This poll doesn't make sense. It's hard to follow what you're asking. Plus, with question two, you're basically doing the equivalent of asking if we'd prefer tea or coffee and then only allowing us to answer yes or no, without being able to specify which one we want. |

![]() Q2) no clue! ![]() Same as you, I don't know how question 2 fits in at all. |

I think this is all about pimping your favourite against the public's clear favourite.

Reworded - apologies for any confusion.
What I am trying to see is could an unpopular character win you over with a jive (or any dance) of that standard? |

Not quite sure what your question is about, but this is your 3rd poll about Jay in as many hours?
![]() Someone much wittier than me said it much better on another thread a few days ago "Your agenda is showing. You might need a safety pin or two" ![]() Edit re. Post 11 : Are you saying that Peter is an unpopular character? |

What I am trying to see is could an unpopular character win you over with a jive (or any dance) of that standard? But it's like asking do you like your living room the colour it is now or would you prefer it in a different colour. I don't know, I've never seen it in the other colour. You're trying to get at, I presume, that people don't like Peter and do like Jay, so they love his dance because it's Jay dancing it, not Peter and they wouldn't love it the same if Peter did it. There are some people who like Peter, like his dancing, there are some people who don't like Peter but do like his dancing (not many I'd warrant), there are some people that do like Peter and don't like his dancing and there's some that don't like either. The same goes for Jay. That jive was the perfect storm of a lot of people liking the person, liking the couple, liking the dance and the quality of the dance coming out of nowhere. It wouldn't have the same effect if Peter did it because, like it or not, he's not as popular away from the dancefloor. There's also the elephant in the room that Peter just doesn't have the talent to have done that dance that well. He may, further down the line, do a spectacular VW or salsa but currently Peter is not anywhere near that level of gifted. Phew, sorry I went on |

Re Jay himself, he is a brilliant dancer - no doubt. I just think it takes out the element of competition when someone starts at a much higher level that others. No disrespect to him - the producers make that call. If he wins (which I think it will), then all the best to him. It just makes it all a bit anti-climactic when you all but know the winner in Week 3. |

When did you see it? Did it come out on its own? Was there an announcement? Why wasn't I invited?

I won't bother with the poll as it makes no sense whatsoever.
What I will say is personality of contestants means absolutely zilch to me. Sometimes I will find a person endearing ( Jeremy and Daniel are both lovely this year ) but I can't ever remember disliking anyone. I judge by their dancing abilities and my "favourites" are my favourites because they're the best dancers and for no other reason. I object to Peter Andre getting such huge praise and high marks in the first two weeks because he isn't that good a dancer, but I've got nothing against him. And to answer your first question, if he'd done that jive on Saturday exactly as it was I would have found it just as exciting. But he wouldn't have done; he'd have hammed it up, and it was the laid-back understated attitude Jay had that I loved about it. |

Doesn't solve the problem of the professional, who may also be part of the like/dislike.

No agenda - EVERYBODY is talking about that jive.
As for polls, I like to elicit opinion though this way - I find it throws up varying views, some of which I might not have thought of. C Re Jay himself, he is a brilliant dancer - no doubt. I just think it takes out the element of competition when someone starts at a much higher level that others. No disrespect to him - the producers make that call. If he wins (which I think it will), then all the best to him. It just makes it all a bit anti-climactic when you all but know the winner in Week 3. A lot of us don't see that though. Jill did a jive that good, she won, Louisa did a jive that good she didn't win, Sophie did a charleston that good she didn't win, Jake did a salsa that good he didn't win either. Often, the dancer of an iconic dance doesn't win, so I'm just going to sit back & enjoy all their journeys and not give Jay the glitterball in week 3 |

Also, I have nor been on the forums since Friday for one reason and another - so am catching up on what most of you have probably been talking about since the weekend. I was supporting Anthony and was sorry to see him and Oti leave. I have not made any comment on that subject neither so get prepared for a flurry of "O Army" posts!!!
No, joking aside, apologies if this poll did not make sense - I've tried to make it clearer. Apologies also to those offended by this or by "3 polls about 1 topic in 3 hours". Feel free not to reply if you wish - it honestly is not the biggest deal in the world to me right now. |

I'll be honest. No, I wouldn't have liked it so much if Peter Andre had pulled off the same routine. It therefore goes without saying that I wouldn't have wanted to watch Peter "smashing" it every week.
Confession is good for the soul they say. |
