He had a very bad breakdown and has been away for quite a long time.

Where on earth have you got that from?
Will had a #1 album with Echoes in 2011, toured with it in 2012 and then went from that to make his debut in the West End stage production of Cabaret, in which he won the What's On Stage newcomer of the year award for his role as "Emcee".
2013/14 he reprised his role as Emcee again and toured with the Rufus Norris production of Cabaret, for which he was nominated for an Laurence Olivier award.
After that he's been teaching and mentoring students up and down the country in singing and music, in his role as a companion for LIPA (Liverpool Institute For Performing Arts). This year in May he released his 6th studio album 85% Proof in May which went to #1 in the album chart, he starts his Love Revolution Tour 2015 on the 29th of October, support act is the lovely Lemar (Fame Academy. )

His new album is rather good. I'd imagine he's doing the current single "Joy" but the previous release "Thank You" was probably my favourite ever Will song.

I was delighted when he won Pop Idol back in the day (when all this was fields) before reality talent shows became so contrived.
His audition was great, filthy T shirt n all.

Look forward to seeing him on the show

He can't. He really is genuinely a trained dancer. He went to the famous Arts Ed and has appeared in Cabaret on stage. He is a very good dancer, particularly in jazz.

He doesn't need Strictly anyway.

Thanks, I didn't know that. I'd love to see him dance.

That's the great shame, I think - when do we get to see people dance other than Strictly? Why aren't there any shows on TV where we get to see the trained people do what they do best? (I know we get to see the pro dances on Strictly and I love them, but I wish there was more.)

He's sooo good. Very jazz. Yes, I'd adore to see people like him do it. There is not enough dance on TV. I loved SYTYCD - particularly the US version

He'd make an excellent candidate for the ringer role!

But maybe Strictly needs him if all the rumours are true about the difficulty in attracting "celebrity" men onto the show. Often a man is not interested in dance and would not wish to make himself look like a fool on such a show. Men that are interested in dance often have had some training / practice in the past.

Good point MinaH.

Will was on the Strictly results show a few years ago, singing "Happiness! (no, n0ot the Ken Dodd song!) It was one time when they didn't have in house dancers performing at the same time because Will had his own dancers which he joined.

He also sang Come On and again has his own dancers.

Will Young, "Come On"

Somehow amongst all that work, he had a nervous breakdown and spent 6 months in a trauma clinic. He spoke about it in an interview in the Telegraph. It's great to have him back and I'm looking forward to seeing him on Sunday.

He'd definitely get my ringer support if he signed up!
