It will be a subtle (or not so subtle) way of facing the he is been trained full time in dancing since he was six.
Definitely not full time! What about doing the normal school curriculum?

He was exempt because they knew that in 18 or so years time he would be taking part in a yet to be invented tele show. Forward planning

Message to the BBC if you haven't noticed he has already won so no real need to find ways of making him look even more popular.

Meeting a few children, showing his human side. Isn't this the sort of stuff that politicians do?

Next week will we see him donating to various charities?
Did you complain when Kirsty visited a dog sanctuary?

Other contestants have been to visit their old schools. Are you attacking them, too?
I'm just checking my post again for any attack .
Oh is this the week for contestant's children to appear ?
Jay being a non-daddy has hijacked a whole school instead , very clever tactic there
.

Nope , no attack in there .
Look , if jay (and Strictly) chooses cynical measures like batting his baby blues, looking pretendy shocked at compliments, having the cameras on his mum in the audience every week and hi-jacking whole schools of children then I see nothing wrong in expressing that some of us can see through it and can react in similar cynical manner .
He's 25 years old for goodness sake ! He didn't just leave that school last year , OR the year before , nor even 5 years ago .Nor has he ever taught there . In fact he claims he was bullied at school for his interest in ballet . It's weird and a cynical use of children who have nothing to do with him in any way .
Sorry , but I'm just not gullible enough to fall for it .

We have often seen people in their kids school/a random nearby school - I'm sure we've seen some in their old school. It's not a big deal. I assume TPTB like school VTs for the family show aspect.

Well, his mum was quoted in an interview as saying Jay breathed dance since childhood
An interview which so far no-one's actually provided a link to each time it's been mentioned.

Very odd in his case considering this quote from his bio on the Strictly site .
"Unfortunately for the young Jay he was bullied by his classmates for expressing an interest in ballet!"
I'm sure it will be a warm and fluffy vt though , as these things always are .

Well, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment about how that has been referred to a lot recently. I don't doubt its existence though.

At least two people have said on this forum they've tried a Google search for this interview and turned up nothing so yes, I do doubt very much it exists and that it is, in fact, hearsay based on little evidence at all myself.

I'm sure he won't have had much choice about it, in much the same way as Ainsley didn't choose to go to the zoo, Peter to play pirates, Georgia to go to Bury, Anthony to bring Oti boxing...

The VTs are ludicrous, but there's no point beating up the celebs for them. Any of them.

Genuine my eye, and you are rude. What did you expect him to do with his hair? Throw it in the bin?
He's not a genuine guy? What is he? A hermaphrodite?

When the Strictly bio was first quoted, it was portrayed as evidence that Jay was effectively studying dance full time - at the Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance in Newark (CHSDN).

On that basis, the 'classmates' referred to would have been classmates at the CHSDN.

If the bullies were actually Jay's classmates at All Saints then the previous interpretation of the bio looks quite wrong.

Also, quite a few years down the line, this is a good opportunity for the school to consider better ways of dealing with that kind of bullying. It's also an opportunity to show that bullies don't always win.

Well, it was a tongue-in-cheek comment about how that has been referred to a lot recently. I don't doubt its existence though.
Faith is a wonderful thing. However, in the context of a claim that "I read an interview with person x which said...", there should be no need for faith. Citations shouldn't be all that hard to find.

BiB - lots of people do. Whether it's because they don't know about the charity, or don't care about it.

Despite the fact that I read Little Women at an impressionable age, I've never donated my hair to a charity - simply because I didn't realise that it was even a possibility.

Many others will be in the same boat. However, now that I know that donation is a possibility, I will look into the possibilities.

I doubt very much that I will be unique in doing so. That means that there are charities which may benefit from Jay publicising the issue.

No matter how you feel about him, or his dancing on the show, or his 'dance background', surely that's a positive?

Sorry, this is nothing new!!

Many past celebs have re-visited their old school, why is it so taboo that Jay has

I seem to recall Natalie visited her old primary school when she was doing Strictly, it's for the damn awful VTs they show us!

Filming at a school is done for many contestants. A previous school for those without children, or the childs school if the celebrity has school age children.

Remember SCD is a "family" show and as such must be seen to appeal to children.

Jay has really got some people worried hasn't he?
Hasn't he just! It's hilarious.

If they carry on like this I think they might all implode! *dons waterproof*

Jeremy has already done it this season!!!!! Not one comment about cynical use of children. I bet Peter wouldn't have got away with that (and I'm not a fan of his at all)

The VT Elves have 2 main themes - one or both of which feature for every celeb every series.
One is the bring your pro to work day and the other is dance in front of small children.
It's a box ticked.

I really can't see what all the viciousness is about every year they go to the younger competitors schools and for the older competitors they go to their children's schools. So why pick on Jay when it happens every year. The only reason I can see is they are jealous.

Jay is a genuine, modest guy, and thankfully most of us can recognise that.

We can also recognise bitter, jealous individuals who can't bear the fact that he stole last weeks show, and I am sure will continue to do so.
