She seems to give the judges naff scripts and be so OCD in deliberate ploys to bring in ratings with comical VTs, cheesy VTs, burn the floor format and group dances that the pros do that don't have the feel good factor like they have done in the past. I think louise rainbow is such a cynic and isn't doing as well as her predecessors. Wonder if any FMS share the same view as me?

She brought Ola back and has Joanne working as a pro and on ITT.

I wouldn't rate either of those as cynical.

I don't think she likes a fire-fighting type of management and does seem to like to minimise the chances of something going wrong.

She's likely to keep her job.

I think you're slightly more cynical given that every other post of yours seems to concern her in some capacity.

Well I'm entitled to dislike what the management and producers are doing to SCD, it's not as good as it once was and really like TXF on borrowed time. Both shows are on the decline really. People prefer to watch documentaries now and that's not pie in the sky, it's fact.

Beats me why you even watch the show OP. You don't seem to like any aspect of it, Other channels are available you know.

Just checked the BARB figures for the most recent week published which is w/e 4th October. Top 5 watched shows were

GBBO 12.85 m
SCD 9,27
SCD (R) 8.48
Dr Foster 8.12
Downton 7.51

Highest rated factual programme was Countryfile (not really a documentary) at 5.63.

Real documentaries barely feature in the top rated TV.

I haven't been a huge fan of the show since Series 8, the series which (in my opinion, of course) ripped the heart and soul out of show, making it less about 'dancing' and more about making routines have zilch resemblance to the dances they're supposed to, axed brilliant dancers like Matthew, Ian and Lilia (and no, I do not count being moved to some 'troupe' which disappeared after a few series) and introduced people like Comrade Teethski (Artem) who's choreography for nearly every dance he did was more like an x-styled showdance.

And before I get the typical 'If you don't like it don't watch it' calls, It's hard to break habits sometimes.

*And series 10 and 11 were ok.

So SCD could do better only if they did some baking darling I'd say there's no reason for concern.

Louise Rainbow is Executive Producer - the boss - but have you seen how many other producers there are too. Have a look at the end of the Saturday and Sunday shows!

The obsession with ratings and particularly, beating the X-Factor, has meant that every year, there has likely been a pre-production meeting where the main question has been. "How can we improve it?"
Sadly for the most part, in my opinion, successive producers, haven't.

For me it's gone from "Must watch," to "Will record it and watch bits of it later."

Is it a fact? really?

Please name some recent documentaries that have got over 8 million viewers

I thought the same so did a little research last night. I actually wish it were true because I love documentaries.

The biggest rated documentary I could find was David Attenborough's Frozen Planet which in 2011 got an audience of about 6.8 million. His 2013 documentary about Africa peaked at 6.5m.

Take out David Attenborough and 2.5 million seems to be a very good rating for a documentary.

I suspect that this is not so much a fact as a baseless eference thrown in to make their relentless SCD vendetta seem rational and well founded

That's right,"Pie In The Sky" was about Henry Crabb,a detective who wasn't quite allowed to retire to just run his restaurant.Great series but certainly no documentary.
