Why is Emiliana Torrini so criminally ignored? I think she's so talented and has released some terrific music over the years but no one seems to bother with her. So many have never even heard of her. It's a shame artists like this are so underrated and under-appreciated. Anyone else here like her?

I've posted links to some female singers with as good a voice, with just a few hundred hits.
But then they are jazz singers, many of whom are really underrated and under-appreciated.

I love her. Her music is great and has an interesting trip hop feel to it. By underrated, I think she meant not on the same level as global superstars as Beyonce or someone although of course she has her fans and has had major label releases. But I think more people need to know of her!

That reminds me I have an album of hers. The one with Big Jumps and Jungle Drum on. Ill fish it out again, thanks for the reminder!

I got into her after hearing Wednesday's Child on Pandora and I like some of other tracks like Big Jumps and Gun. I guess part of the reason why she has never hit the big time is that she's foreign and is on an indie label.

There's a Danish artist called Tina Dico that I think is brilliant, but she's another one that very few people in the UK have heard of. It's a shit business really as someone famous once said.

I was very lucky to see Emiliana as the support act when I got dragged to a Gabrielle concert. They handed out a CD single of 'Dead Things' when we left, which I've still got.

The only thing I knew of her was a cover of White Rabbit she did for the film Sucker Punch, which was pretty good, but only because it's such a good song to begin with

Just because you only ever post about completely unknown, obscure artists doesn't mean that an artist like Emiliana isn't also relatively unknown and underrated. The majority of people I've ever mentioned Emiliana too have never even heard of her name, nevermind knowing any of her songs and I think that's a shame, compared to everyone having heard of, for example, Katy Perry and her mediocre music. I think Emiliana and her great music deserve to be more widely known and heard. She's a great talent.
