It was played on Radio 2 yesterday and I expect they were waiting to see if it made an impression on ITunes. Heart have been playing it a number of times but it is not on their official playlist yet. Radio airplay will increase in time. The charts are a lot different these days to a year ago even.

It is quite strange that Simon released it on the same day as ID..

Also quite odd there was no hype build up around it. Didn't even know he released his single yet until I look on my iTunes chart.

That's how OA/OS works. The promotion starts the day its released. Of course fans knew as they would have followed him on twitter etc but the general public wouldn't have even heard the song until it was released Friday. Olly, Take That have done the same and Fleur will be the same I would imagine. Seems to be the way its done now.

Ben was # 10 on Vodaphone top 40 yesterday and #7 on official charts today after release on Friday thats pretty good going. I presume he is running around the radio staitions promoting it to the general public as we speak like all the other artists .It is the way it is done now and the bigger the fan base i guess the higher the entry into the charts, then the songs just seem to go up and down for ages.

Isn't Haenow capable of doing a song by himself ?

Yep. But still it does feel like he has gone under the radar. He didn't get a big station radio premiere, his single got released against 1D etc.

They update their playlists tomorrow, if they don't add it tomorrow then I would assume they won't be supporting it at all.

I heard it on Heart this morning in the car. It was catchy enough but not really my cup of tea. Ben comes across as a nice guy, so I really hope it does well for him

#12 on today's update.

This is a decent debut for an OA/OS release, especially considering Olly, an established artist, debuted at #16 last week and Little Mix in the 20s a couple of weeks ago. He'll be judged by long-term sales not a debut chart position from OA/OS.

I would wait until the final chart.SK debuted at 12 and settled at 31 finally and they had no label.Singles flactuate alot.My concern is to why Syco released Ben's single same time as 1D.Anything not top 10 will not be good enough for SYCO.

I think it is likely to stay in the top 20 for tomorrow. People here aren't used to on air/on sale. It will peak higher when promotion and airplay kicks in. Only huge stars like 1D, Bieber and Adele are able to go straight in at #1 with OA/OS releases. Most other acts struggle to break the top 10. At the end of the day it's possible that the single could peak relatively low but have 300k/400k sales over the course of its run. Artists aren't dropped because of low peak positions, they're dropped because of low sales. It's best to judge how well an OA/OS single is doing after about 5 weeks, not on release week.

We wiil get a real idea of how he is going to do when he brings out his second single which i guess may be on his own.

I do find it very strange that Syco decided to pit this against 1D.

#12 isn't too bad for an 0A/0S release, and it should probably move up after the inevitable live show performance.

im glad this is how it seems to work now, much more like america, where songs peak sometimes weeks after release date.
however though, i did expect the song to do a little better thus far,, especially as Kelly Clarkson features.
Time will tell.
Will be interesting to see how Fleurs does next week. She has been throwing out the same 15 second clip on a loop for weeks now. Why not just release the full song ?!
