Basically the guy deserved to go as soon as he threw that Sugarbabes thing into the thought pond.

Not only was it hideously unfunny, though he thought it was (cringe) but he had no planned follow-up at all - just backed down straight away mumbling about it not going down well.

Not so much double cringe, more like cringe squared ...

Actually, Sugababes would have been quite a good name, because the teams are mixed up so much they normally end up with a completely different group of candidates on each team than there were to start with.

Some of that lot in the winning team got away scot-free. Some of them looked like real shirkers. I saw faces at the end of the programme who managed to hide away while the fish selling was going on.”

By his own admision he cannot sell at all and Sugar is a salesman and so is the progamme so he is not going to go too far is he ?

I was also very childish.

Oh yes, of course it was. Me saying it was good was a bit of a joke

I meant to say that he was also very childish.

But it probably suits me as well.

It bothered me that he couldn't learn. We saw that woman, Ruth was it? give him some advice. She specifically said, "Don't lead with 'Can I interest you in some fish?'", and then we saw him continue to do exactly that. He didn't even try to use the techniques she suggested. Not only was he bad at selling, he wanted to be bad at it. It had become part of his self-identity. That attitude is a huge hurdle.
