I felt bad for Charleine this week.

And fair play to Richard he killed that accusation dead, when he said men don't usually care about all this hair waving crap, and like nice packaging and a quick and easy product.

It was a good response. I didn't 100% agree with him, but he made a valid point and showed he could think on his feet. It was almost as if he and the team had developed a clear and coherent brand concept ...

Still, they want to relate to an image of sexiness and there was nothing appealing about the guy who shampood his eyes for 30 seconds.

I also didn't agree because no hair ad regardless of who it is aimed at doesn't have an after look even men's stuff because what is the damn point, we all know what shampoo does, it washes your hair we do not need a demo.

I LOVE Charleine. She's so nice but also quite feisty, and she was really good on the first task. I did feel sorry for her that she was sidelined in the second.

It looks like she screams in one of the most undignified ways ever seen on the show at one of her colleagues next week - yes, she gets better.

Didn't expect this to be as popular as this! I have watched it back and now have more thoughts.
*Charleine definitely should've been PM, but even though she wasn't, she was still sidelined. Aisha clearly saw her as a rival (notice her grinning through the scene where Aisha tells Lord Sugar how Charleine was "outvoted").
*Aisha was a s*** PM, if I do say so. After being "more qualified" for this task than Charleine, she made numerous poor decisions (I can't remember her making a right one) including picking Natalie to pitch, using the wrong model, and bringing Vana into the Boardroom.
*Natalie looked very surprised when Aisha accused her of boasting about her pitching skills. Not related to this thread, but I found it quite funny.
*Charleine sulks when she doesn't get her own way - but, in business, I think that's good sometimes. A lot of the time when she's sulked, she's had good reason to. She didn't get PM, but everything she said after that was snubbed.
*I suspect that Selina and Charleine have a Mark-on-Daniel rivalry, which could be good, considering how far they both got. Also, Selina messed up severely in the second task just as Daniel had done. Coincidence?

I thought that was going to be last night, in the losers' cafe - she looked pretty annoyed.

1. Why? Being the expert on a particular market doesn't automatically make someone the best PM for the task - in fact the opposite is often true. The team absolutely should have tapped into Charleine's expertise and were idiotic to sideline her, but often the best place for an expert to be is as a valued team member, where they can focus on bringing their expertise to bear, rather than having the burden of leadership, where they can be distracted or get too worried about small details.

2. Did you have any particular example or reason in mind? When I see someone sulking in a business meeting, the mental note I make is 'lacks maturity'. If the result of rejection is that they come back stronger, don't hide away and continue to try making a positive contribution, I might think 'aha, resilient'. But sulking in a business environment doesn't get you very far in my experience (unless you happen to be the boss, in which case anything goes).

I agree with you on the second point. On the first, do you still hold that opinion in hindsight given how poor a PM Aisha was? I understand why she was chosen, but I think quite a few of the team members (minus Selina) would choose her if they could reverse time.

I don't understand why she was chosen, cause she spoke a whole load of textbook words about marketing better, if anything that'd be a reason I wouldn't pick her.

Hi...you seem slightly angered by my post so I'll clarify
1) I think she would've been good as PM. Usually, the PM should be someone good in the market - why have a team leader that knows nothing about the stuff? Charleine was pointed out by the other candidates, Lord Sugar and herself to be so.
2) Unclear there, sorry, I meant to say that usually, decisive candidates (even if they're argumentative) can tend to do very well. Fair enough, it may be slightly immature, but I think she was just being polite, as to not start an argument. I think Charleine might be edited to "sulk" so in later episodes, something will change and she'll appear different. Sulkers on this show usually tend to end up doing quite well (remember Susan?)

Sorry Alex, not angered at all - just mildly perplexed and I bashed out my answers a bit too quickly.

To be clear, though, I do think Charleine might well have been good as PM. I just think she seemed to think that knowledge entitled her to be PM - which is nonsense - and I wasn't impressed at the way she sulked. I have to say I disagree with Sugar's continued insistence that the person with knowledge should always be PM. That simply isn't how it works in the real world. What you need to do is to use any expertise you have in the team in an appropriate way - sometimes that might be a sPM, but it doesn't need to be that way. If Selina had just listened to Charleine rather than feel threatened by her, things would have worked out better.

Second point: sorry, me reading it wrong as much as anything. Decisive is good but already we've seen two PMs who have made snap decisions just so they can say they're decisive. Making an uninformed decision isn't good leadership - it's tossing a coin. A good leader makes decisions based on at least a little bit of data, so the odds aren't 50:50 ...

Well, from the perspective of the other candidates it would have made great sense for Charleine to be PM, because she'd probably lead them to a win, and if she didn't she'd be the obvious one to be fired. And given that she sold a lot on the first task, that would mean getting rid of a strong contender.

I see what you mean about Charleine - she had the knowledge about the hair products, but that was pretty much the only thing running in her favour. She may now know about the whole advertising side of things. I think I was just p***ed that Aisha was such a bitch about it, she seemed really smug that she was PM. Shot herself right in the foor there.
I really don't like Selina, I've posted this elsewhere. I'm on team Charleine at the minute (she's really popular here I think) and I think Selina just does feel threatened by her, but I think it might partially be a repeat of the Alex from series 9 scenario - she is actually very good, but no one believes her because she's a hairdresser.

Yeah, getting rid of Aisha was the right move. Loving Charleine right now - really hope she wins.

In a way, Aisha was set up as cannon fodder from the minute she was PM - I think the girls know how strong Charleine is but don't want to let her shine. Selina especially seems to hate her, perhaps after she excelled in the first task.

Also thinking they might under-appreciate how good she is. It's weird. Charleine is a very good candidate, but the girls just skip over the fact.

I get that Charleine is popular, She seems nice enough and quite bouncy and energetic, but I was unimpressed with the sulking - she's far from the only member of the girls' team like that, though. I 100% agree that Selina has come across very badly so far, and I think some of her behaviour in task 2 stems directly from the fact she was the winning PM in task 1, even though she contributed hardly anything to the victory.

It's fair to say that some of the relationships on the girls' team are rather poisonous. Expect that to get worse before it gets better.

It would be a bit unfair if the others looked down on Charleine for being "just a hairdresser" - in so many cases the job title many candidates claim to have is totally jumped up way above what they really do. And Sugar doesn't care what your job is - he's after a certain attitude that isn't dependent on what industry you work in.

As I've said elsewhere, though, I don't see Charleine winning. That's based purely on a fag-packet assessment of what we know about her business plan.

Dangerous ground here, but I think that Charleine is just as bad as Selina (and don't get the whole women are after her thing either, though I guess that Selina and Aisha are plural in a way).


Don't think that they will have time to worry about that next week (and the PM seemingly made some wise subteam decisions; even though they are still at it in the trailer ) and after that I assume that the teams will be mixed again and most of the clash girls will probably get separated from each other.




No, can't see it happening myself either. She comes across worse then Debra from Series 5 (who still almost made the final). But the focus on her is there and something in the edit has triggered quite a few people to stand up for her, so she will probably make it far (close to the final five or so).

totally agree, I dont think they were shuttting her down cos they were worried about her outshining them. They think she is carp because she runs a hairdresser/beauticians. I was hoping she'd get hold of Aisha's ratt- matty extensions and do something, her hair looked like a bag lady's during the task. For somebody who makes a living from hair extensions she made no effort with her own. The scowling puss on her didn't help either.

Annoying as Charlene is she was the obvious choice to do that pitch or at the very least have her on the room so she could chime in. Instead they picked that blonde who couldn't pitch a lifebuoy to a drowning man. She should have gone too imo.

Did I see footage of future shows where Charleine is screaming at someone or did I dream that? That Selena looks like a right sneaky one too, dont like her either.

Yes, Aisha was naive and silly not to use her expertise - and, as you say, better to have her onside as a positive contributor than sulking a lot. And although she did sulk, it wasn't as if Charleine didn't make an effort to contribute.

I don't see Charleine as a finalist (for reasons I've stated elsewhere) but I think her energy and common sense will probably take her a long way in the process - my guess is interview week or close to it. Further than Aisha certainly!

Agree Natalie or whatever her name is should have been out the door too for that dreadful presentation.

But that was Aisha's fault too. Charleine offered to do the pitch and on the basis that she sells the stuff every day I would imagine that she would have done a very good job with it. Aisha deliberately chose to sideline her and put someone else into bat. Aisha was so busy trying to shut down the competition that she overlooked the point of the task - to win. The best way to avoid being in the boardroom is to win the task and to do that you need to make the best possible use of the talents within your team. Aisha didn't do that so she deserved to go. If Sugar had wanted to get rid of Natalie he could have done a double firing.

Thats what I mean both Aisha and Natalie should have went. Natalie was very vocal about how she gives presentations every day and then sucked and also seems to think the over 45s are old and fear change, what a moron.
