They really need a system for breaking the ties on the leaderboard. It is daft that the couple at the bottom can get anything ranging from 1 point from the judges to about 10 points at random based on how many of those above them might be tied in that particular week. There was a Christmas special some years ago where 4 out of 6 of them were tied at the top of the leaderboard and the judges just agreed between themselves what the ranking order for those 4 should be.

Which good dancers have they lost early since the current system came in (Series 10) that they have to tinker with the system to help them?

I'd be very careful about publicly making things look like the judges are being given more power unnecessarily. The very first thing the public did as soon as the dance-off was brought in to "help strong dancers avoid shock boots" is take an absolute hammer to the judges favourites and voted en massse for the underdogs resulting in Gabbygate, Pennygate, Cheriegate, Zoegate, Rachelandlisaneverbeingoutofthebottom2gate etc etc. It took a good 5 series to get them to "behave" again.

Its hardly a shock result Daniel going, as hes not the best dancer. However, I have enjoyed watching his dances far more than I have Kirstys. He appears to be enjoying it more (or at least he manages to show the audience that hes enjoying it more).”

Agree with all of this. Rather sorry to see Daniel go. Would have preferred Kirsty to go.

It's always sad when a struggler goes out on one of their best dances. I personally thought it was his best and enjoyed watching it. Enjoyed it more than Kellie, Kirsty, Carol and Ainsley's. I also liked the dynamic he brought to the show: gentle but self-aware humour. But I'd rather he left than a contender.

Has anyone yet mentioned the fact that DOD said goodbye more or less straight AFTER he had danced when he was with Tess, before he even had his score!!!! Where are all you conspiracy theorists when i need you! Maybe he is on tour next week lol

What's the betting that the producers of the results show will wring every last drop of suspense from it and make Jay's name one of the last to called out under the spotlights? I wouldn't blame them, but I'd find watching it unbearable without the spoiler!

I actually like it as it is. If public feels strongly about somebody they have a chance to overrule judges' decision. If they broke ties on judges' leaderboard, it would be more difficult, probably even impossible in some cases. A low probability of ties on public leaderboard also means its voice is stronger.

I thought it might be Kirsty v Ainsley for the DO.....considering the DOD fanbase.
Now there is an imbalance of 4 blokes and 8 birds left!
With only Andre and Jay having a hope in hell of reaching the final, are we in for a straight third female win?
At least the 'comedy acts ' survived another week...Jeremy and Ainsley that is!

Isn't this the Tom Chambers problem, where even if everyone in the country had voted for him, he would have still been in the bottom two due to the scoring system which was used at that time?

I live in rural Devon and DOD is hugely popular down here with ladies of a certain age. He's regularly played on local radio, his songs are often very sentimental and many are religious based.
I know that he has a reputation for engaging with people at his concerts, particularly those with learning difficulties. A good guy I understand. I warmed to him.

Ditto Carol Kirkwood.
Minus the 'entertainment value' bit...

That was only really a problem though because they were still having a dance off between the bottom two when there were only three of them left.

It isn't really an issue when there are a dozen of them.

Carol only needed to outscore Daniel and Kirsty to avoid the DO, Jeremy had to to outscore one other. Carol may have outscored others but we do not know for sure.

Sorry to see Daniel & Kristina go, I wonder if his nerves were a factor did he drop her on one of the lifts!

Ainsley won't be around for much longer and Jeremy won't make it to the latter stages so it's all resting on Jay and Peter for the men.

I make sure Jeremy lasts longer then Peter.

Wasn't so much a drop rather forgetting to help her back up!

Gleb will have to drop his trousers, too, what with all this celebrity estrogen overload

Daniel was very gracious on his exit and stood up for Kristina so well - he showed how much he enjoyed the SCD experience and had a wonderful dry sense of humor - pity he didn't get one more week at least

So it's been 6 different couples in the bottom two so far. With no clear "unpopular with the public" couple it makes it harder to predict the next B2.

I was surprised that Daniel seemed quite likeable. But that hair must be a toop.

I would like that to be the case but I suspect it might not be.

Odd how whoever is going to be called safe, is the first person the camera focusses on after Tess comments.

There is something artificial about it - in fact, his whole face and smile. I totally believe others who say he is a lovely warm guy and great with his fans (isn't he famous for that?) but I found him quite creepy and uncomfortable to watch and am so glad he is out. I'm sure he enjoyed the SCD experience but knows he is no dancer. At least he won't have to suffer those much-talked about nerves anymore
