Why is it a problem, if they got on it fair and square?
I have no issue with British nationals appearing on international editions as well, so long as they were living and working in that country. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Yazbeck |

Americans grow up with stilted, scripted TV where screaming and shouting at each other is the norm - all because they believe it makes "good TV". As long as they don't behave like that on the UK formats, I don't really care where they come from. I like to be entertained as much as anyone, but forcing arguments like the Americans do on their shows really isn't entertaining, it just makes them look desperate. Too tacky for my taste, but it's already seeping through on a couple of our reality shows. I expect to start seeing those "some of this has been recorded for your entertainment" messages that the Americans have popping up soon. Quote:
Agree, same when people say the bake-off is too PC, a whole group of 50+ women from the WI would not make an interesting reality show.

In the very first series there was at least one contestant who was not British born.
Adenike Ogundoyin from the first series was Nigerian. I just found out that she died 4 years ago. http://adenike-ogundoyinayanbadejo.m...com/About.aspx Was it ever mentioned on here? There have quite possibly been foreign nationals in every single series. |

That's because they are PC, the BBC admit it themselves, they don't see it as a bad thing. And in many ways, it's not a 'bad' thing, it's just contrived. We need a muslim, we need a refugee, we need a homosexual... it shouldn't be a box ticking exercise when it comes to casting for these things - they should simply choose the best. "Have they got talent?", "Have they got personality?" are the sort of questions that need asking, not "have you had a sex change because we really want a transgender this year to prove we're diverse".
ITV do exactly the same with their reality shows but it's always the BBC that people blame for being too PC. It's more about equal opportunities than PC anyway. Imagine if they only had white British people in such shows. Even if only the white contestants had been judged good enough it would be very hard for them to argue that they hadn't been able to find a non-white contestant with equivalent skills. I would also imagine that the BBC don't want to appear to be racist or homophobic. Picking a group of white straight people would make it look that way even if they were the best auditionees. |

There's not even a civilian version of The Apprentice in the US anymore so what would you suggest?

But you FMs are usually very nice to me - am I not welcome???
![]() The Apprentice forums are quite possibly the friendliest forums on Digital Spy. We had a discussion about it a while ago. There are some forums on here where people are resoundingly negative all the time, and sometimes quite unpleasant to each other with it. We generally have none of that here. We have differing opinions, sure, but everyone respects them and understands the concept of mature and reasonable debate. Generally I really like everyone on here, it's a really pleasant atmosphere. |

You call it box ticking I call it diversity and a diverse range of people is better than a bunch of people who are all the same as each other for drama purposes and that is all the Apprentice really is, a reality show and I'm sure the producer cast maybe 5 or 6 for their business plans and the others for entertainment reasons.

Isn't Vana related to Janice from Friends?! I think with her catchphrase she unwittingly invented the more recent and daft idea of a full-stop after every word in a sentence, but actually spoke it like that. "OH. MY. GOD."

Doing that wouldn't be very diverse though, would it? There need to be candidates with varieties of different backgrounds - if they were all from the same location, that would be a bit odd.

They should do a few a year from different regions on the UK - Birmingham, Liverpool, Newcastle, Cornwall, Essex.

![]() ![]() And as to diversity if we truly wanted a fully diverse set of races/sex/genders and what not it'd probably take about 500 years a series with all the possible combinations and probably it'd take half of each episode with the ultra feminist man hater shouting "they're raping me" the moment a male appears in her eyesight |

She lives in Barcelona according to her profile on the site so like the Irish candidates who've been on it and I think lived in Ireland she qualifies by virtue of EU resident.
Honestly who cares really as long as the show is entertaining and Vana is probably going to be a vocal character. Here's a link on it... http://spain.angloinfo.com/moving/re...-eu-nationals/ |

Because they've always had foreigners on the show.
